pointe-noire, september 20 (reporters lou sijia and yang xiaolin): on the evening of september 19, local time, the chinese navy peace ark hospital ship successfully performed a bladder tumor resection and ureteral reimplantation on a congolese patient using the "haitu" shipborne surgical robot. this was not only the first overseas appearance of the "haitu" shipborne surgical robot, but also the first complex operation performed after its successful development.

this shipborne surgical robot was developed by the team led by professor ren shancheng of the naval medical university and has completely independent intellectual property rights. during the preparation stage of the "harmonious mission-2024" mission, the "haitu" robot was developed and passed various tests. after approval at all levels, it was successfully boarded the peace ark hospital ship, and a medical team with operating qualifications was specially selected to carry out the mission on board.

at the operation site, a 61-year-old male patient from the republic of congo lies quietly on the bed with the assistance of the third-generation ship intravenous anesthesia robot. "this is also one of the advanced equipment carried on board for this mission. it can realize closed-loop intelligent anesthesia that integrates anesthesia depth monitoring, analysis and drug adjustment, and has a high degree of automation," said anesthesiologist zhang guangqing.

afterwards, urologist chen ming and his assistant xie qifeng used a cystoscope to conduct a qualitative positioning examination of the patient's tumor, and then turned on the "haitu" robot for operation. chen ming was seen performing the operation on the operating table like a driving simulator, and the robot's four huge robotic arms operated flexibly. on the monitor, the surgical instruments at the end of the robotic arms separated, cut, sutured, and reconstructed the small area within the patient's body. after more than 4 hours, the operation was successfully completed. "compared with traditional laparoscopes, the robot's robotic arms are more flexible and precise, and have more advantages in surgical operations such as cutting and suturing, and are suitable for operations in small spaces. the high-resolution three-dimensional images on the monitor are very clear and every detail is revealed, providing reliable guarantees for the surgeon's delicate operations." chen ming introduced.

"this time, the 'sea chart' robot accompanied the peace ark hospital ship to perform overseas missions and was successfully used, filling the gap in intelligent surgery on naval ships. this is the first time in china and is also at the forefront in the world." the commander of the "harmonious mission-2024" mission said, "next, we will use more practical actions to fulfill our oath and fulfill our mission to better serve patients."
