zelensky reportedly said weapons production was a focus of discussions during his meetings with top officials, including the defense minister, foreign minister and senior military commanders.
"we discussed in detail, even emotionally, the production of drones and their supply to various branches of the defense and security forces," he said in an evening video address.
"we also discussed missile production, electronic warfare systems and cooperation with partners today... the most important thing is not only to sign contracts and provide funding, but also to increase the speed of actual production and actual supply," he said.
reports say zelensky has been calling on ukraine's western allies almost every day to provide more military assistance, mainly long-range weapons and air defense systems, and has been emphasizing stepping up domestic production.
zelensky said late last year that ukraine plans to produce 1 million drones by 2024. a ukrainian minister said in march that the number could double with additional financial support from the united states.
