"before the performance, the teacher told us many stories about bayu culture. as a chongqing native, i felt proud. in order to better interpret these two roles, my friends and i not only trained hard in our body shape, but also studied chongqing's history and culture in depth, striving to present the most authentic and vivid image of chongqing." kuang jie, a senior student from chongqing yitong college, played the roles of "yujiang man" and "dragon boat man" in the first and second parts of the performance respectively. this was his first time to participate in such a large-scale event. although the rehearsals were intense, he repeatedly expressed his gratitude for the fruitful results. "the night before, i was so excited that i couldn't sleep all night." lu sishi, director of the activities department of the hechuan district cultural center in chongqing, led the team to complete what many people considered an "impossible task" as the leader and lead dancer of the warm-up square dance. she introduced that the performers participating in the square dance were all members of the middle-aged and elderly dance class in the center. among them, li yuanzhen, who is 68 years old, is the oldest performer in the opening ceremony. "due to the high temperature, we all advised her to go home and rest at the beginning, but she and other dancers showed amazing perseverance and went all out to show the charm of their hometown. of course, during the rehearsal process, we also paid special attention to adjusting the range of motion and rest time to ensure that everyone can show their best while staying healthy."
