arnold has coached the australian men's football team since september 2018. this is his second time coaching the team since his brief coaching in 2006-2007. he is the longest-serving head coach in australian history. during arnold's coaching, he led australia to the top 16 in the 2022 world cup and won 11 consecutive victories in the world cup qualifiers.

australia won 1 and lost 1 in two round of 18 matches in september, australia lost 0-1 to bahrain and drew 0-0 with indonesia. in october, australia will play against china at home in the world cup qualifiers.
