the goal of this mission is to break the 21,027-meter hot air balloon flight altitude set by an indian pilot in 2005 and reach a new world record of 22,000 meters. this flight uses a non-enclosed cabin, and the flight crew will fully experience the extreme environment of low temperature, low pressure and low oxygen, which is a great challenge to the pilot's physiological functions and psychological limits.

cheng bo, director of tsinghua university's suzhou automotive research institute, said that everything from space suits to various life support systems needs to be upgraded. the measurement equipment loaded on the hot air balloon needs to be adjusted in terms of performance, cold resistance, and miniaturization.

it is understood that the flight crew will carry out high-altitude scientific experiments and technical tests with cutting-edge scientific payloads for the first time, accumulating extremely important environmental data and flight capabilities in the airborne environment for my country in meteorology, astronomy, remote sensing, communications, energy, and human factors engineering.

jia bing, director of the aviation radio model sports management center of the general administration of sport of china, introduced that this mission has never been achieved before in terms of altitude, equipment and personnel, and will play a particularly important role in promoting the popularization of aviation sports in the entire chinese society. we will go from low altitude to high altitude and fly high in the sky.
