on the evening of september 14, "night in xiangshan", written by li baoqun, directed by ren ming, and starring wang ban and fang xu, was staged in mingde hall of renmin university of china. this is the first time that the major revolutionary historical drama "night in xiangshan" has been performed at renmin university. after the performance, the two leading actors, wang ban, who played mao zedong, and fang xu, who played chiang kai-shek, shared their feelings about character creation with the audience. "both renmin university of china and beijing people's art theater have red genes and strong people-orientedness. i feel that when i shouted the line 'long live the people' here, the applause was louder than in other places." wang ban's words resonated with the teachers and students present.

in addition, the beijing people's art theatre drama class also opened at renmin university on september 14. feng yuanzheng, president of the beijing people's art theatre and a national first-class actor, gave a lecture entitled "art is renewing, enriching the soul" to tell students about the historical development and artistic style of the beijing people's art theatre, as well as the current artistic practice that is innovative and stimulating.
in the lecture, feng yuanzheng combined his artistic experience with the development of the theater, and explained the artistic concept of beijing people's art theater to the audience in a simple and easy-to-understand way through vivid and interesting examples. starting from his own life experience and learning experience, he shared his life experience with young people. feng yuanzheng also encouraged young people to dare to pursue their ideals and actively face the pressure of growing up with the inscription of mr. cao yu, "dragon and horse, wind god, camel and steady steps".
during the interactive session, feng yuanzheng discussed topics such as international cultural exchange, cultural confidence, and the training of young actors with the audience. feng yuanzheng said: "i came to renmin university this time to plant the seeds of the people's art theatre and look forward to students falling in love with drama and the people's art theatre."
in addition to the lecture, feng yuanzheng also donated theoretical books and periodicals published by the people's art theatre on behalf of the theater, including 102 books and 34 magazines, to establish the "beijing people's art theatre reading zone" in the renmin university library, in order to further disseminate drama theory knowledge, optimize the university art education platform, and strengthen drama exchanges between the theater and renmin university.

the event also held an aesthetic education workshop for the first time. the workshop course was led by the teaching and research group of the people's art theatre, using the beijing people's art theatre's classic repertoire "wilderness" as the teaching blueprint, and directing, acting, and stage design professional skills as the teaching content, leading students to immersively experience the process of drama art creation and deeply feel the charm of the stage.
in order to implement the "big and small groups hand in hand" project of the art tour in the "'beijing' colorful culture youth blooming" action plan, beijing people's art theatre has partnered with renmin university to comprehensively polish and improve the original play "shaanxi public school" directed and starred by renmin university students. beijing people's art theatre sent artistic director tang ye and performance director fu yao to sort out and refine the script, provide professional guidance for the actors' performances, and also sent a professional stage design team to join in, making the work more expressive on stage. the work will be staged at the beijing art center on september 30.
