according to people who participated in the testing of the harmonyos next system, harmonyos next is very smooth. at present, harmonyos next has basically covered mainstream daily applications, including wechat, wps (adaptation completed on september 14), and other apps that are in urgent need of the public.

harmonyos next is known as the "pure blood version", which mainly refers to the fact that this new domestic independent operating system abandons the linux kernel and traditional aosp code.it only supports the hongmeng kernel and hongmeng system applications, so it is not compatible with the original android system.

the so-called aosp code refers to the source code of the android open source project.

this is an open source project led by google that provides the core source code of the android operating system. anyone can download and use aosp code to create a customized version of the android-based operating system.

aosp is designed to prevent any single industry player from limiting or controlling the innovation of other players and to ensure that the source code is open for customization and portability.

aosp code includes various components needed to build the android operating system, such as the kernel, hardware abstraction layer (hal), android runtime environment, core libraries, and some core applications. although anyone can use the android source code for any purpose, to participate in the shared application ecosystem built around android, device manufacturers must participate in the android compatibility program.

aosp code is the foundation of the android operating system, allowing for extensive customization and innovation while ensuring compatibility and consistency across android devices.

therefore, harmonyos next abandons the aosp code, which means that this system is completely independent of the android operating system and belongs to a brand-new technical framework.for example, harmonyos next adopts huawei's self-developed star shield security architecture, relying on software and hardware collaborative capabilities and the harmonyos kernel to build a new security system and order.

it is currently known that harmonyos next will be used in different types of terminals such as huawei smartphones, pads, laptops, smart screens and folding screens.

among them, this new system will be used in huawei's newly launched new three-fold model huawei mate xt, including the huawei mate 70 series to be released in the future.

a piece of news on september 14 caught the attention of wall street journal: kingsoft office announced that its office software suite wps has completed the development and adaptation of harmonyos next.

kingsoft office said that wps has completed the development of the hongmeng native version of the application, and has adapted the product to screens of different sizes such as mobile phones, folding screens, and tablets. it has also achieved cross-terminal and cross-device document and data sharing based on multi-platform account unification, and supports multi-user collaboration, browsing, editing, and revision capabilities.

in other words, the wps hongmeng native application is already running smoothly on all terminals, wps ai is also launched simultaneously on multiple terminals, and dozens of ai functions have been migrated to harmonyos next.

the biggest demand for foldable screens actually comes mainly from mobile light office applications. as a new foldable product, huawei mate xt has an unfolded size of nearly 10 inches, close to the actual size of a pad. if the light office experience of a three-folding screen model can be improved to the same level as a laptop, the demand for this type of terminal will be ignited.

"since foldable models have solved the weight and battery life issues, i basically don't use a laptop when i travel," a market research director at an investment company told wall street journal. "if the mate xt can provide office software that is similar to a laptop, then i will definitely not bring a heavy laptop with poor battery life when i travel."

the inventory of huawei mate xt is as high as 1 million units. is it because huawei is highly confident that harmonyos next will improve the c-end experience of light office software?
