at 8:00 on september 7, the center of typhoon makar was on the sea about 120 kilometers southwest of weizhou island, moving westward toward vietnam. on the night of makar's passage, there were no casualties or major disasters in guangxi.

affected by the heavy rainfall brought by typhoon makar and upstream water, the peak water level of the yujiang river guigang hydrological station reached 44.00 meters, 2.80 meters above the warning level, the highest flood level since 2001; the peak water level of the wusijiang river xinping hydrological station on the tributary of the yujiang river in guigang reached 49.31 meters, 2.81 meters above the warning level, the largest flood since the station was established in 2011.

the jingwu flood control dike on the wusijiang river, which was built in the 1950s and 1960s, showed signs of seepage. the local authorities immediately organized more than 1,000 professional rescue personnel and party members and cadres to deal with the emergency. a total of 648 mechanical vehicles were deployed, about 110,000 sets of emergency materials were allocated, and 748 people from 345 households who might be affected were urgently relocated.

at present, the water levels of yujiang river and wusijiang river have peaked and are falling slowly. after emergency rescue operations, the jingwu flood control dike is in a safe and controllable state.
