netcom news recently, the european union chamber of commerce in china issued a statement on the eu's proposal to reject all price commitments from chinese electric vehicle manufacturers.

the european union chamber of commerce in china noted that media reported on the 12th that the european commission has rejected all price commitment proposals put forward by chinese electric vehicle companies and industry associations in response to the eu anti-subsidy investigation. we express our great disappointment and strong dissatisfaction with this.

driven by trade protectionism, the eu is investigating chinese electric vehicles. this move is distorting the fair competition environment for chinese companies in europe and has also had a great negative impact on the eu's business environment and global efforts to combat climate change. even so, relevant chinese companies and industry associations have successively put forward industry suggestions to the eu, hoping to pragmatically address the reasonable concerns of both sides and promote dialogue and consultation to resolve the problem. these suggestions are constructive, flexible and enforceable, creating good conditions for dialogue and consultation. however, although the eu said that "the door to dialogue is always open", its arbitrary rejection of the relevant commitment suggestions of chinese companies is completely contrary to its public statement.

the industry has noted that china has conducted intensive dialogues and consultations with the eu to properly handle the electric vehicle investigation, and has resolved trade disputes through consultations and dialogues with the utmost sincerity. the chinese industry has put forward specific and feasible suggestions to the eu. some eu member states have explicitly hoped that the eu will abandon its taxation plan, but the european commission has ignored the industry's calls and member states' expectations, neither accepted china's suggestions nor offered solutions, and did not show sincerity in the negotiations. this has dealt a heavy blow to industry cooperation and business confidence, and has also sent the wrong signal to the outside world of escalating trade and even being involved in a trade war, causing the industry to be deeply concerned about the current development of electric vehicle trade frictions.

the business community calls on the eu to be consistent in its words and deeds, to objectively and rationally view the competitive advantages of chinese companies in the field of electric vehicles from the perspective of avoiding the escalation of trade conflicts and promoting the transformation of the green economy, and to return to the track of dialogue and consultation at the critical moment before the eu member states vote on this measure, so as to reach a constructive solution as soon as possible. if the eu insists on taking trade protectionist measures, the industry expects china to resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of our companies.

on september 19, minister of commerce wang wentao will hold talks with european commission vice president and trade commissioner valdis dombrovskis in brussels. the business community is looking forward to the high-level meeting between china and the eu in the field of economic and trade at this critical time. we hope that this rare face-to-face high-level meeting will provide a good opportunity for china and the eu to properly handle issues related to the electric vehicle investigation, promote the two sides to reach a solution that is in the common interests of both sides and in line with wto rules as soon as possible, and promote the healthy and stable development of china-eu economic and trade relations.
