according to reports, the project has four assessment modules. module one requires contestants to make a corset, top or dress, and the technical competition manager will provide the front view of the clothing before the module begins. contestants need to cut out a style that is consistent with the original front view within 1.5 hours. module two is plate making and material laying out. contestants need to make an industrial sample of a skirt, and at the same time, they need to lay out the sample and fix it on the grey cloth. module three is the style design drawing. contestants hand-draw a series of target markets, three pieces of clothing each for "haute couture" and "fast fashion". module four is clothing production. contestants need to make a "haute couture" top and skirt.
"the assessment for this competition is more difficult. it innovatively assesses the comprehensive ability level of the contestants, including innovative design ability, plate making change ability, and process technology. the competition also tests the contestants' psychological quality. the contestants must adjust the production plan in time according to the changes brought about by mysterious materials and concept package auxiliary materials." jiang shaorong, assistant to the principal of guangzhou baiyun vocational and technical college, technical guidance expert of worldskills china, and coach, said.
specifically, for the pattern making and material arrangement of module 2, only a prototype of the skirt was provided this year, but the time was shortened by 30 minutes compared with previous years. in terms of clothing production, previous sessions would specify a theme, provide fabrics and accessories before the competition, and design and produce a garment according to the elements drawn. however, this year only provides the design theme of "advanced customization", and a set of clothing including a top and a skirt is made according to the theme. the fabrics only have directions but no specific texture and material properties, and they are all mysterious fabrics. "this is very difficult for the contestants, and the skill operation range is wider. the materials will affect the shape of the clothing, so different plans must be designed, and all production processes such as softness, hardness, thickness, and thinness must be mastered."
