"this little fox has been wandering around the community and even ran into the backyard of our supermarket and stole eggs. we were sorting and moving goods and it didn't hide when it saw people. sometimes it would bare its teeth at people in protest, but it didn't take the initiative to attack or hurt anyone," said a staff member of a fresh food supermarket in beijing pixel community.
as they didn't know where the little fox came from, the citizens sent a message for help to the beijing lanling emergency rescue center. executive team leader liu yintong and two animal protection team staff rushed to the community with capture tools and captured the little fox. in the backyard of the supermarket, the little fox saw someone approaching with a lasso pole, and it hid back cautiously until it retreated to the wall. liu yintong then used the lasso pole to lasso the little fox's chest and put it into the pet aviation cabin.
"this little fox has blue-gray fur, with white fur from its chin to its neck. its specific breed is unknown. currently, most farmed foxes are hybrids, and it is difficult to determine the species from their fur color. there are very few wild foxes in urban areas. judging from the behavioral habits of this fox, although it resists humans, it is not that afraid of humans. it also uses food and water bowls to eat and drink water. it can be basically determined that this fox is raised by humans, but it is not certain whether it was abandoned or lost. it has been wandering around the community for a day, and no one has found it." liu yintong said.
after the capture, liu yintong sent the little fox to the beijing xinren animal hospital shunyi branch. the doctor performed a routine blood test and stool test on the little fox. "judging from its teeth, this fox is still young, lively and timid. it was quite emotional when it was first brought in because of fear. it is in good health, with normal mental state and mucous membrane color, and no parasites or occult blood in its stool. the red blood cell count in the routine blood test was high, which may be related to its nervousness, lack of water intake, and excessive exercise outside," said director sun na.
liu yintong has sent the little fox to the "bunny pet kindergarten" for temporary placement. "we are currently helping it find an owner. if the owner is not found after a while, we will discuss the follow-up matters for the little fox together." said a staff member of the pet kindergarten.
