kathmandu, september 13 (xinhua) -- china-supported nepal's production of fresh vegetables was exported to qatar for the first time on the evening of the 12th local time.
the first batch of fresh vegetables export ceremony was held in kathmandu, the capital of nepal, on the 12th. a refrigerated truck loaded with green peppers, lentils, bitter gourd and other vegetables appeared at the ceremony. these fresh vegetables were produced in nangli city, kathmandu county, and were supported by the agricultural extension project of the china rural development foundation.
zou zhiqiang, director of the nepal office of the china rural development foundation, said that according to the plan, about 30 tons of fresh vegetables will be exported to qatar every month. these vegetables will be transported to qatar by himalaya airlines, a joint venture between china and nepal.
speaking at the export ceremony, mohan basnet, mayor of nangoli, said that the export of the first batch of vegetables produced with the support of china to qatar not only encouraged the vegetable farmers in the city, but also had an inspiring effect on farmers across nepal.
