according to reports, this year's competition has more than 1,400 contestants from nearly 70 countries and regions. the chinese delegation sent a total of 68 contestants to compete in all 59 projects in six major fields: transportation and logistics, structural and construction technology, manufacturing and engineering technology, information and communication technology, creative arts and fashion, and social and personal services. the average age of the contestants is 22 years old. this is the 7th time that my country has organized a delegation to participate in the competition. it is also the largest scale of participants and the most comprehensive projects since my country participated in the worldskills competition.

the chinese delegation consists of 212 people including athletes, experts, translators, and staff. among the 68 contestants, there are 58 male athletes and 10 female athletes. the average age of the contestants is 22 years old. the youngest is 18 years old and the oldest is 25 years old. they will participate in all 59 events in 6 major categories, including transport and logistics, structure and construction technology, and social and personal services.
among them, guangdong sent 27 contestants to participate in the "peak showdown" of 23 projects including cnc milling, cnc lathe, additive manufacturing, autonomous mobile robots, refrigeration and air conditioning, etc. the projects participated by guangdong contestants cover five major fields: structure and construction technology, manufacturing and engineering technology, information and communication technology, creative art and fashion, and social and personal services. most of them belong to advanced manufacturing, strategic emerging industries and modern service industries, which are highly consistent with the industrial development of guangdong.
the worldskills competition is known as the "world skills olympics" and is the world's highest-ranking, largest-scale, and highest-level international vocational skills competition. since winning the first gold medal for the chinese delegation at the 43rd worldskills competition held in sao paulo, brazil in 2015, guangdong players have won a total of 22 gold, 11 silver, 13 bronze medals and 23 excellence awards on the worldskills stage.
