on the morning of september 9, the global public security cooperation forum (lianyungang) 2024 conference opened in lianyungang city, jiangsu province. with the annual theme of "win-win cooperation under changing situations: building a global public security community", this conference invited more than 2,100 law enforcement personnel, well-known experts and scholars from 122 countries, regions and international organizations to attend the conference. the conference was hosted by the china friendship promotion association.

compared with previous conferences, this conference has more participating countries and regions and richer content. the delegates will have in-depth exchanges on topics such as building a community of responsibility through a cooperative network built by diverse forces, maintaining public security by sharing the results of cooperation, and discussing security cooperation plans by improving the cooperation mechanism. at the same time, 12 sub-forums will be held around the theme of the conference on tourism safety, road traffic management, international police education cooperation, metropolitan public safety, immigration management cooperation, drone safety, law enforcement capacity building, forensic science and other fields, and a public security technology equipment exhibition will be held to showcase a number of specialized, sophisticated, special and new public security technologies and technology products.

it is understood that this conference will focus on major public security issues and urgent needs of the current international community, explore cooperation to solve outstanding problems in the field of global public security under the new situation, promote the formation of the "global public security cooperation concept document", propose global public security cooperation initiatives, and release the forum's first annual report "global public security cooperation forum (lianyungang) annual report" (2024). after scientifically selecting samples and conducting qualitative and quantitative research, the forum has preliminarily completed the global public security index research report.

the global public security cooperation forum (lianyungang) conforms to the trend of the times of peace, development, cooperation and win-win, and strives to provide an international exchange and cooperation platform for all parties to discuss the security situation, share security concepts, and discuss security countermeasures. previously, the forum has been held for two consecutive sessions, and has achieved a series of results in deepening communication of concepts, strengthening policy exchanges, reaching important consensus, proposing practical measures to implement the global security initiative, and jointly building a global public security cooperation framework for consultation, construction and sharing. in 2023, the "global security initiative concept paper" issued by the chinese ministry of foreign affairs listed the forum as one of the supported cooperation platforms and mechanisms.
