the pharmaceutical and health industry is one of the "dual engines" that boost beijing's innovative development. the reporter learned from the event that since 2020, a total of 13 innovative drugs and 70 class iii innovative medical devices have been approved for marketing in the city. among them, 14 drugs have been included in the priority review and breakthrough treatment varieties of the state drug administration this year, 7 class iii innovative medical devices, 4 class ii innovative medical devices, and 11 artificial intelligence products have been approved for marketing. the number of innovative products and r&d vitality are among the best in the country. it is estimated that by 2026, the total scale of the city's pharmaceutical and health industry will reach 1.25 trillion yuan, with 10 new innovative drugs and 30 new innovative medical devices approved for marketing.
cao wei, director of the beijing municipal drug administration, said at the launching ceremony that in recent years, the pharmaceutical industry chain in beijing, tianjin and hebei has been gradually improved. the three places have integrated industrial resource elements, continuously enhanced the endogenous driving force of coordinated development, and focused on building a safe, reliable, complete and smooth industrial ecological system. in 2023, the operating income of pharmaceutical and health industrial enterprises in the three places reached 419.8 billion yuan, accounting for 14.2% of the country, including 197.7 billion yuan in beijing, 97.4 billion yuan in tianjin, and 124.7 billion yuan in hebei. in the past three years, 13 innovative drugs have been approved in the three places, accounting for 16.9% of the country, including 8 in beijing, 2 in tianjin, and 3 in hebei. a total of 75 third-class innovative medical devices have been approved, accounting for 26% of the country, and 70 have been approved in beijing alone. in terms of improving drug regulatory capabilities, the three places have signed 7 cooperation agreements and jointly issued 14 working documents. by promoting the unification of regulatory standards, the mutual communication of regulatory policies, the mutual recognition of regulatory results, the complementary regulatory forces, the sharing of regulatory resources, and the mutual promotion of regulatory results, the modernization of the drug regulatory system and regulatory capabilities in the three places is fully promoted.
