on september 2, the press center of the 2024 forum on china-africa cooperation summit held its first briefing. at the meeting, xu jianping, director of the regional openness department of the national development and reform commission, introduced the progress of china-africa cooperation in jointly building the "belt and road", covering infrastructure, health, green development, digital cooperation, agricultural cooperation, talent training and other fields.
xu jianping said that over the past decade, 52 african countries and the african union have signed a memorandum of understanding with china on the joint construction of the "belt and road", forming a high degree of consensus on the concept, principles and goals of the joint construction of the "belt and road". on this basis, china has successively signed cooperation plans for the joint construction of the "belt and road" with algeria, egypt, djibouti and other countries and the african union, combining the development strategies of african countries with the key contents determined by the african union's "2063 agenda", and determining them in the form of a list of cooperation projects and matters, and implementing them in a rolling manner. during the upcoming china-africa cooperation forum summit, china will also sign new cooperation plans with some african countries to promote the in-depth and practical cooperation of china-africa on the joint construction of the "belt and road".
xu jianping mentioned that the joint construction of the belt and road initiative between china and africa has great potential and broad prospects in the future. china will work with african countries and the african union to further consolidate the basis for cooperation, expand areas of cooperation, deepen cooperation in the joint construction of the belt and road initiative, and work together to promote modernization, striving to make new breakthroughs in deepening strategic docking, deepening connectivity, deepening cooperation in new areas, and deepening consultation, coordination and collaboration.
