regarding the content of the talks, the report said that based on the topics raised by both sides, han dongxun and lee jae-myung will discuss issues such as the financial tax system on the same day. it is predicted that the two parties will jointly issue a position paper and promote the establishment of a special agency to implement follow-up measures for the talks.

according to xinhua news agency, on august 18, the democratic party of korea, the largest opposition party in south korea, held a national congress and elected lee jae-myung as the new party leader. as a result, lee jae-myung became the second party leader to be successfully re-elected. after winning the election, lee jae-myung expressed his hope to meet with president yoon seok-yeol to discuss the livelihood issues that need to be resolved most urgently. he also proposed a private dialogue with han dong-hoon, the leader of the ruling people's power party.

according to south korean media, lee jae-myung is considered the party's favorite candidate for the 2027 south korean presidential election. in the 2022 presidential election, lee jae-myung lost to the people's power party candidate yoon seok-yeol by a narrow margin.
