according to a previous report by xin huanghe, the rental house has three floors, with two rooms on the second floor, a shared bathroom in the corridor, and a balcony on the third floor. there is an outdoor staircase on one side of the building, and tenants can go directly to the second floor via the stairs.

the landlord, ms. wu, said in an interview with the media that the second floor had been rented to the victim's family for the past three years. the female tenant was about 30 years old and had two young children. at that time, the female tenant's lease was about to expire, so ms. wu hung a "house for rent" billboard on the kitchen window of her old house, and left her mobile phone number on it.

another victim was a girl named zhu. the first time was at 20:40 on december 8, 2023. wang knocked on the door and asked zhu, a tenant girl who was alone on the second floor, for the landlord's number. zhu did not have the landlord's number and closed the door. wang knocked on the door again and forced his way into the house under the pretext of checking the layout of the room. after zhu claimed that her parents were coming back, wang left the room but still lingered outside the door until zhu's family received a call and rushed to the scene.

the second time was around 3:00 p.m. on december 18, 2023. when no one answered the door after wang mouyang knocked, he pushed the door open and entered the room. he found zhu moumou and his father in the room. he then lied and asked for the landlord's phone number for rent, but left after failing to get it.

the third time was at around 20:00 on december 20, 2023. wang mouyang once again came to the door of zhu moumou's residence on the second floor of the crime scene and was discovered by zhu moumou's father who had returned home. wang mouyang lied again that he wanted to rent a house and asked for the landlord's phone number before leaving.

zhou zhaocheng pointed out that the main basis for the prosecution to accuse wang mouyang of illegally entering a residence was the accusation of the female tenant. however, since the surveillance video did not capture the situation inside the house and there were differences in the verbal evidence between the two parties, in order to determine that it constituted a crime, it is still necessary to rely on other evidence to restore the truth. including on-site investigation, physical evidence inspection, witness testimony, etc. the constituent elements of the crime of illegally entering a residence include forced entry or refusal to exit without the consent of the owner of the residence. zhou zhaocheng said that the surveillance video can confirm that wang mouyang went upstairs at 4:42 pm on december 20, 2023 and went downstairs at 4:51 pm. he only stayed for 9 minutes in between. after going upstairs, he did not directly enter the female tenant's room, but entered the shared toilet outside the corridor at 4:43 and walked out in less than half a minute. wang mouyang himself also confessed that he entered the room by knocking on the door normally and there was no violence. in addition, the case occurred in a private space and the time was short, so the collection and evaluation of evidence was difficult.
