liu haining, deputy director of the archaeology department of the beijing municipal bureau of cultural heritage, introduced that in recent years, through archaeological surveys and excavations, beijing has basically clarified the scope of the jiulongchi at the baifuquan site in changping district and the historical direction of baifuquan. on this basis, the first phase of the grand canal source site park was built and opened to the public; archaeological excavations of the ancient city site of lu county were carried out in 2024. currently, an archaeological excavation area of 470 square meters has been carried out, and 11 house sites and 22 ash pits from the ming and qing dynasties to the wei, jin and northern dynasties have been cleared, and pottery, porcelain, coins and building components have been unearthed.

in 2016, the beijing institute of cultural relics carried out large-scale archaeological work in lucheng town, tongzhou district, and discovered the site of the ancient city of lu county in the han dynasty and the surrounding tombs, which is of great significance for the study of the early urban development history of beijing's sub-center.
in beijing's sub-center, a heritage park that incorporates the concept of public archaeology will meet citizens. the core area of the lu county ancient city relics park, with a total protection area of 113 hectares, is under construction and is expected to open to the public in 2025. together with the lu county ancient city relics museum, it will tell the history of the sub-center.
