🌊stanley

repulse bay and stanley are recommended to check in together. the repulse bay hotel is the encounter place in eileen chang's "love in a fallen city". although the repulse bay hotel was demolished in 1982 and converted into the luxury villa shadow bay garden, there is still a terrace restaurant preserved by the hotel that can be visited. it is super retro and romantic! after coming out, cross the road to the repulse bay beach.

tap mun island is probably the place that is least like hong kong, because the relatively inconvenient transportation allows it to maintain its secluded and pristine scenery.tapun doesn’t have snow-white sandy beaches, but it has the sea, hillsides, grass, bison, wild boars, and forests. it has very clean and pure scenery, and is also a treasure island for hiking and camping enthusiasts.

you must plan your route in advance when going to tap mun island, becausethe boat runs very rarelyon weekdays, you can take a boat from wong shek pier to tap mun island. there are more sailings on weekdays, and then take a boat to ma liu shui pier at 5:30 pm to go back.about 2 and a half hours of playing time is enough!

take the mtr to university station exit b on weekends, then walk to ma liu shui pier to take the ferry (about 75 minutes).there are two buses going there (8:30 and 12:30) and three buses returning there. it is recommended to take the 17:30 bus.

just walk straight up from the tin hau temple and you will reach the destination. there are road signs along the way.you can also see herds of cattle and occasionally wild boars!it takes about an hour to complete a circle, so you can enjoy it slowly.

there are not many restaurants on tap mun island. turn left at the pier and you will see two or three small shops selling homemade seafood popsicles. it is recommended to prepare some snacks and drinks in advance and eat them on the grass. however, it is recommended that the food you prepare should not be too strong.the cattle and wild boars will really steal our food.also, never feed wild animals.

this is also an ideal place for camping. the starry sky at night is very beautiful.however, there is no camping equipment rental service on the island, which requires a high level of professionalism. the only accommodation on the island is probably the banyan tree village b&b, so it is recommended to return to the city to rest.

mui wo is a less popular choice among hong kong’s outlying islands, but the holiday atmosphere here is actually great!there are sandy beaches with clear white water, fishing village style and small streets. compared with the popular cheung chau and stanley, it is less lively and has just the right quietness.

take a boat from central pier, the fast boat takes half an hour, the slow boat takes 50 minutes,the beach on the island is not big, but the pace is very comfortable.there will be foreigners sunbathing on the beach, giving people the illusion that they are in a foreign country.

there is a cooked food market near mui wo pier, as well as some western restaurants and snack bars.dining facing the sea view is really chill!you can walk or ride a bike on the island. there are many hiking trails around the island, and you can explore the natural scenery of the island along these trails.

traffic tips:take the ferry from the right side of central pier 6 towards mui wo and go directly to mui wo pier. the difference between the fast and slow boats is about 20 minutes.

(if you are in a hurry or seasick, it is recommended to take a fast boat. if you are not in a hurry, you can take a slow boat to enjoy the sea view)

🌊ping chau

hong kong's smallest outlying island, full of hipster vibes

ping chau is a small island of only one square kilometer, one of the smallest outlying islands in hong kong.there are not many tourists, not many attractions, and no bustling business. it only takes half an hour to get there from the hong kong pier. there is only tranquil sea breeze and simple life here.

the old streets of ping chau retain many traces of history. the old houses and kiln factories here have witnessed the prosperity and decline of this small island. there is no means of transportation on the island.you can travel around the island by bicycle.or take a stroll along the seaside trail and feel the sea breeze.

if you have time,i recommend everyone to go to the "cowhide factory" on pingzhou street.this historic cowhide factory opened in 1930 has now been transformed into a colorful "secret garden" art space. surrounded by artistic graffiti and creative installations, you can still feelthe once glorious ceramic handicraft industry.

there are many small shops opened by young people in the streets and alleys of ping chau.literature and vitality have slowly filled this small island.
