china youth daily client, beijing, august 27 (china youth daily, china youth network reporter wang peinan, correspondent liu chenyang) from august 27 to 30, 2024, the "great wall-2024" international counter-terrorism forum of the chinese armed police force was held in beijing. more than 170 foreign representatives and more than 150 chinese representatives from more than 50 countries on six continents, a total of more than 330 people attended the forum.
at the opening ceremony of the forum, general wang chunning, commander of the people's armed police force, delivered a keynote speech, focusing on the implementation of the "global development initiative, global security initiative, and global civilization initiative" proposed by president xi jinping. he analyzed and pointed out that "terrorism seriously violates human rights, seriously threatens world peace, and seriously abuses emerging technologies. it is the common enemy of all mankind and one of the biggest threats to world peace and development." he put forward four suggestions on preventing and combating terrorism: "adhering to the guidance of the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, adhering to the cooperation of the international community as the basis, adhering to comprehensive governance of both symptoms and root causes as the premise, and adhering to the use of new technologies and new means as the support." these suggestions received positive responses and wide approval from the delegations of participating countries and representatives from various fields of china.
this forum is themed "unmanned counter-terrorism operations", distinguishing between counter-terrorism strategy discussions and professional discussions, and mainly setting up three topics: "unmanned counter-terrorism equipment and materials", "unmanned counter-terrorism tactics and means", and "unmanned counter-terrorism training and talent cultivation". compared with previous sessions, this forum is larger in scale, higher in level, with more participating countries, richer in content, and more fruitful in results. representatives from foreign defense ministries, interior ministries, gendarmerie forces, police forces, national guards, presidential guards, embassies in china, and representatives from various fields of chinese foreign ministry, national counter-terrorism office, cmc organs, high-end think tanks, military industrial enterprises, the people's liberation army, and armed police forces participated in the forum. the forum distinguished between high-level discussions and professional discussions, organized counter-terrorism strategic theory research and unmanned counter-terrorism equipment technology, tactics and means, training and talent cultivation and other professional discussions, and formed pragmatic theoretical research results, innovatively arranged training course demonstrations, unmanned equipment observation, "victory horn" concerts, cultural visits and other links, and representatives from various countries continued to build consensus on counter-terrorism in communication and exchanges, making positive contributions to the realization of a world of lasting peace and universal security.
the "great wall" international counter-terrorism forum, hosted by the chinese people's armed police force, is named after the "great wall" and aims to build consensus, strengthen exchanges, and work together to build an iron wall against terrorism around the world. since its launch in 2016, the forum has been successfully held for four sessions and has developed into one of the security forums with a certain international influence.
