on the 28th local time, ceasefire negotiations in the gaza strip continued in doha, the capital of qatar.
representatives from qatar, egypt, the united states and israel discussed issues such as ceasefire in the gaza strip and exchange of detained persons.
a delegation composed of officials from the israeli intelligence and secret service (mossad), the israeli national security service (shin bet) and the israeli defense forces arrived in doha, qatar on the 28th and held talks with officials from qatar, egypt and the united states. it is reported that the talks on that day were "technical" discussions among the four parties, aiming to further bridge the remaining differences between the parties in the negotiations based on the previous cairo negotiation results and to refine the principles of the framework agreement into specific terms that can be implemented.
at present, all parties have not disclosed the further details of the talks to the outside world.
us, hamas trade accusations over ceasefire talks
the deputy director of the central intelligence agency, cohen, said on the 28th that the prospects for a ceasefire agreement in the gaza strip largely lie in the hands of the leaders of the palestinian islamic resistance movement (hamas). cohen said that israel has shown a serious attitude in the negotiations.
khaled mashaal, a senior hamas official, said on the same day that the united states had abandoned the ceasefire agreement proposed in july this year and instead blamed hamas. in fact, the united states knew that it was israeli prime minister netanyahu who undermined the ceasefire negotiations. hamas had previously accused the united states of repeatedly saying that its speech on the progress of the ceasefire negotiations was "not in line with the facts" and that the united states' goal was to support israel. hamas also questioned the united states' ability to mediate, saying that the united states did not mediate "sincerely."
since the outbreak of the current round of israeli-palestinian conflict, israel and hamas have held multiple rounds of negotiations under the mediation of the united states, egypt and qatar. in july this year, hamas agreed to a ceasefire agreement based on the security council resolution; but afterwards, israel put forward some new conditions, leading to a deadlock in the negotiations.
