Recently, the first group of satellites of my country's low-orbit Internet "Qianfan Constellation" were successfully launched into space, marking an important step for my country to enter the field of global satellite Internet. What is worth noting is that as the project source and industry carrier of the "Qianfan Constellation" plan, Lingang Songjiang Science and Technology City is rapidly rising to become a new highland for the satellite Internet industry.
The 2024 Songjiang District's First Satellite Internet Industry Ecosystem Conference held recently revealed that by 2026, the district's commercial satellite mass intelligent manufacturing capacity will reach 300 per year, the number of satellites in orbit will exceed 600, and the scale of the satellite Internet industry will reach more than 10 billion yuan.
G60 Satellite Internet Industrial Base.
The "Thousand Sails Constellation", also known as the "G60 Starlink", is a low-orbit satellite internet constellation project being built in my country. The project is led by Songjiang District, Shanghai, and Shanghai Yuanxin Satellite Technology Co., Ltd. is the operator to lead the planning, construction, and operation of the project. The long-term plan for the space segment of the "Thousand Sails Constellation" will deploy more than 15,000 satellites.
Back in 2018, Shanghai Yuanxin Satellite was established in March of that year and landed in Shanghai Lingang Songjiang Science and Technology City. Subsequently, the company quickly occupied a place in the field of low-orbit satellites. In February this year, Shanghai Yuanxin Satellite's financing information was publicly disclosed for the first time, and it had completed a round A financing of 6.7 billion yuan, which is also the largest amount of financing in China's commercial aerospace industry.
In October 2023, the "Shanghai Action Plan to Promote Commercial Space Development and Build a Space Information Industry Highland (2023-2025)" was released, proposing to form a "core body + east and west wings" commercial aerospace space layout around Minhang Shanghai Aerospace City, Pudong Satellite Internet Research Base, Lingang Satellite Manufacturing Cluster, Qingpu Beidou Space Information Application Demonstration Zone, and Songjiang Satellite Industry Base.
At the end of that year, Shanghai Yuanxin Satellite and Zhongke Chenxin jointly established a civilian mass-produced satellite R&D and production company, Gesi Aerospace, in Lingang Songjiang Science and Technology City. Its G60 satellite digital factory was officially put into production. This is also the first digital "lighthouse factory" for satellite intelligent manufacturing in the Yangtze River Delta. The "Thousand Sails Constellation" plan has been gradually launched since then.
A reporter from The Paper learned from Lingang Songjiang Science and Technology City that the park has clearly identified satellite Internet as its leading industry. With the traction and driving role of chain leader companies such as Yuanxin Satellite and Gesi Aerospace, it has attracted many upstream and downstream companies to settle in, demonstrating the powerful "magnetic effect" of the country's first satellite Internet industry cluster.
At present, Lingang Songjiang Science and Technology City has initially formed a complete industrial chain covering multiple links such as satellite manufacturing, satellite operation, ground equipment, and application scenarios. Among them, the two major chain leaders, Yuanxin Satellite and Gesi Aerospace, are in a leading position in the industry both internationally and domestically. As the operator-led "Thousand Sails Constellation" plan, Yuanxin Satellite is currently the only commercial low-orbit broadband satellite constellation in China that has been approved by the state for construction. It is accelerating the promotion of satellite batch launch and networking, and helping the satellite Internet industry to flourish. Gesi Aerospace's satellite digital factory produces 300 satellites annually, producing one satellite every 1.5 days, which greatly improves the production efficiency of satellites. In addition, the park continues to strengthen, extend, and supplement the satellite Internet industry, and has cultivated and introduced a number of satellite Internet upstream and downstream companies such as White Box, Weilian Aotian Technology, Lanyue Zhengtu Space Technology, Jidong Technology, and Shuangsheng Qiangji.
Lingang Songjiang Science and Technology Oasis Phase III project.
It is reported that in terms of carrier construction, following the completion and delivery of the first satellite intelligent manufacturing digital "lighthouse factory" in the Yangtze River Delta last year, Lingang Songjiang Science and Technology City is accelerating the construction of the Science and Technology Oasis Phase III (Phase II) project to create a property carrier that is highly compatible with the satellite Internet industry.
