Beijing People's Art Theatre went to Xinjiang to carry out cultural aid activities.
Feng Yuanzheng, president of Beijing People's Art Theatre, led a team to Urumqi, Xinjiang, from August 20 to 25, to carry out a week-long cultural exchange and art field trip. This was also the first time that Beijing People's Art Theatre came to Xinjiang with the "art exchange package" model of "performance + art teaching + professional seminar + contract cooperation" since its performance in Xinjiang in the 1960s, introducing innovative artistic concepts, expression techniques, talent training mechanisms and mature management systems to Xinjiang; at the same time, it also conducted in-depth life experiences and creative field trips, and felt the unique regional cultural charm of Xinjiang up close.
Feng Yuanzheng opens the "Drama Lecture Hall"
The delegation of Beijing People's Art Theatre was mainly composed of young actors and front-line creative personnel such as stage designers during the exchange in Xinjiang. They performed and exchanged classic drama clips and original short plays with actors from Xinjiang Art Theatre Repertory Theatre, using "performance" to promote exchanges. Beijing People's Art Theatre brought four classic drama clips and sword dance performances, including "Thunderstorm", "Sunrise", "Hamlet" and "Sword Shadow". Young actors rehearsed many times in Beijing for this purpose, trying to show the youthful style of Beijing People's Art Theatre in the new era to Xinjiang drama colleagues. The performance allowed Xinjiang artists to closely experience the acting style, aesthetic concepts and forms of expression of Beijing People's Art Theatre, deeply feel the charm of drama, and received a warm response.
During the trip, Beijing People's Art Theater also conducted diversified and in-depth research and discussion with local art troupes, interacted with fellow artists, and went deep into life to collect creative materials. They visited theaters, museums, such as Xinjiang Art Theater, Urumqi Peking Opera Theater, Xinjiang People's Theater, Urumqi Grand Theater, and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Cultural Center, and watched performances such as Xinjiang drama "Lin Jilu", Peking Opera, Twelve Muqam, and symphony, and also visited multiple locations in Turpan to collect materials. Local media widely reported on the trip of Beijing People's Art Theater, which attracted a lot of attention.
On August 22, on the stage of Xinjiang Art Theater, President Feng Yuanzheng opened a meaningful "Drama Lecture Hall" with the theme of "Remain true to our original aspiration and strive for excellence in art". He said, "In the new era, the development of Xinjiang drama has both opportunities and challenges. How to make more literary and artistic masterpieces benefit the people in Xinjiang, how to better create and disseminate literary and artistic works with Xinjiang characteristics, and how to use the language of drama to let more people see and feel the beautiful and warm Xinjiang are the main purposes of our Beijing People's Art Theater's in-depth exchanges with Xinjiang's literary and artistic workers."
In addition, Feng Yuanzheng also patiently answered questions from teachers, students and actors of Xinjiang art majors on performance skills, troupe management, talent training and other aspects: "We should organize and rehearse classic masterpieces to nourish creation and enable actors to grow rapidly; we should give full play to local characteristics and interpret classics with our own unique cultural elements. I believe that there is a broader space for Xinjiang's literary and artistic creation."
Signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Xinjiang Art Theater
On August 23, Beijing People's Art Theatre signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Xinjiang Art Theatre and presented Beijing People's Art Theatre with art theory books. The agreement stipulates that the two sides will carry out close cooperation in artistic creation, cultural exchange, and talent training, give full play to the advantages of both sides, guide and encourage artistic creators to jointly explore cultural and artistic resources with local and ethnic characteristics, carry out repertoire creation activities, actively promote the production of original works on major themes that reflect and promote China's excellent traditional culture and national integration, and use performances as a carrier to allow more audiences to experience rich and diverse artistic experiences.
