The reporter learned from the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation Network Communications Research Institute that on the afternoon of August 27, the main reflector of the Changbai Mountain 40-meter radio telescope antenna was successfully hoisted in Changbai Mountain, Jilin Province, my country, marking the preliminary completion of the antenna mechanical erection, which will lay a good foundation for subsequent servo debugging and electrical acceptance.

The Changbai Mountain 40-meter radio telescope is a fully solid, fully movable, high-precision, multi-purpose horizontal radio telescope that will undertake the tasks of very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) orbit determination for the fourth phase of my country's lunar exploration project and deep space exploration. Its antenna system, as the VLBI orbit determination subsystem of the lunar exploration project, can complete the reception and tracking of spacecraft signals within the visible area and perform high-precision orbit determination for the lunar probe. At the same time, based on radio astronomical observations, astrophysical and astrometric research on black holes, active galactic nuclei, celestial reference frames, etc. can be carried out to achieve leapfrog development of science and technology.
