China News Service, Seoul, August 27 (Reporter Liu Xu) On the 27th, the 2024 East Asia Future Forum co-organized by the East Asian Culture Center of Korea and EDAILY Media Group was held in Seoul.

Wu Hailong, president of the China Public Diplomacy Association, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech. He said that the foundation of China-ROK relations lies in the people, and the source of strength lies in the friendship between the people. Both sides should uphold the spirit of mutual respect, look at each other with an open mind, cherish the common cultural values of East Asia, give full play to the positive guiding role of the government, media and non-governmental organizations, and lay a solid foundation for the healthy and stable development of China-ROK relations.

Fang Kun, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in South Korea, delivered a speech, emphasizing that China and South Korea are both important countries in East Asia, and are inseparable neighbors and partners. China is willing to work with South Korea to enhance mutual trust, consolidate friendship, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, promote the positive development of China-South Korea relations, and make greater contributions to building a peaceful, prosperous, open, inclusive, and shared East Asia.

South Korean guests including Kwon Young-se, member of the National Assembly of South Korea, Roh Jae-heon, president of the East Asian Cultural Center, and Lee Ik-won, president of EDAILY Media Group, said in their speeches that the brilliant culture, integrated economy, mutual learning, mutual benefit and win-win situation of East Asian countries have pushed East Asia to the center of the world stage. Today, when the international and regional situation is changing in a complex and profound way, East Asian countries should carry forward the spirit of "being in the same boat" and work together to create a better future for the region.
Participants focused on the two major areas of cooperation, namely economy and culture, and conducted in-depth discussions on the future development of East Asia. (End)
