The Sri Lankan Navy said in a press release that the Indian Navy destroyer "Mumbai" is on a three-day visit to the country. The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka said this is the first time that the "Mumbai" has visited a Sri Lankan port and the eighth time that an Indian Navy ship has visited Sri Lanka this year.
The report emphasized that at the same time as the "Mumbai" arrived at the Port of Colombo, the Sri Lankan Navy stated that three Chinese naval ships arrived at the same port for a visit on the morning of the 26th.
According to CCTV military reports, on the morning of August 26th local time, a Chinese naval fleet consisting of the amphibious assault ships Wuzhishan, Qilianshan and the missile destroyer Hefei made a technical stop in Sri Lanka for a three-day replenishment and rest after completing the "Peace and Unity-2024" joint exercise mission.

According to the report, the INS Mumbai is the third ship of the Delhi-class destroyer built by India. One of its missions is to deliver necessary spare parts for the Dornier maritime patrol aircraft for the Sri Lankan Air Force. The Sri Lankan crew responsible for operating the aircraft is currently receiving training from the Indian Navy, and the Indian Navy's technical team is also providing maintenance and spare parts support for the aircraft.
In addition, the crew of the "Mumbai" will also hold sports events, yoga and beach cleaning activities with the Sri Lankan Navy officers and soldiers. According to the plan, the "Mumbai" will leave the Colombo Port on August 29 and will conduct navigation exercises with Sri Lankan Navy ships.
