Beijing, August 26 (China Youth Daily/China Youth Network reporter Liu Shixin) In September this year, four schools including the high school department of the Beijing Institute of Technology Affiliated Experimental School and the Fengtai Middle School of the No. 11 School will be opened in the southern part of Beijing, and it is expected that 4,500 new places will be added.
According to relevant officials from the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, this move is an important part of Beijing's "Action Plan for Promoting High-Quality Development in the Southern Urban Area (2021-2025)". According to the action plan, Beijing will gradually make up for the shortcomings of public services in the southern part of the city and guide the implementation of high-quality education resources in the central urban area.
Since 2021, more than 10 primary and secondary schools have been newly built or renovated in the southern part of Beijing, and the number of new primary and secondary school places has reached more than 20,000.
The high school of Beijing Institute of Technology Affiliated Experimental School, located in Fangshan District, is designed to have 36 classes. After it is put into use this year, it will add 1,620 places, alleviating the pressure of the shortage of places in high schools in Fangshan District. The school is adjacent to universities such as Beijing Institute of Technology, and will conduct in-depth exploration with local universities in talent training, curriculum construction, exchanges and cooperation in the future.
Beijing No. 11 Middle School Fengtai Middle School, with a scale of 30 classes, adopts a small-class, tutor-based education model and will be put into use on September 1 this year, adding 1,200 new places. In addition, Fengtai District also has Beijing No. 10 Middle School Xiaoyueyuan Campus and Beijing Landmark Primary School, which will be put into use in September.
In the future, Beijing will strengthen the combination of filling in the gaps and improving services, continuously increase the construction of infrastructure, public services, and ecological environment in the southern part of the city, focus on "quality", and continuously promote the integrated development of industry and city in the region.
