From August 24 to 25, the finals of the 13th Beijing Tug of War Competition were held at the Juyongguan Great Wall Scenic Area, the "No. 1 Pass in the World". About 450 people from 34 tug-of-war teams from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region participated in the competition. As a national fitness brand event in the city, this competition made the participants more deeply aware of the charm and value of sports and jointly contribute to building a healthy and vibrant capital.
Tug of war originated in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. It is a traditional national sport that tests teamwork, strength and wisdom. In addition to requiring players to have strong basic qualities such as technical movements, explosive power, coordination, and flexibility, competitive tug of war also tests teamwork ability. When the two teams are evenly matched, it also tests the muscle tolerance and willpower of the players.
The competition was hosted by Beijing Social Sports Management Center, Beijing Changping District Sports Bureau, Beijing Changping District Nankou Town People's Government, Beijing Changping Cultural Tourism Development Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Changping District Ming Tombs Management Center, Beijing Tug of War Association, Changping District Social Sports Guidance Center, and co-organized by World Chinese Arm Wrestling Association and Beijing Ruizhi Xiangyun Advertising Co., Ltd. In the competition, all participating teams were full of fighting spirit, united and cooperated, and fought for every inch of rope. In addition, the event site also set up arm strength challenge, car tug of war, Yajia challenge, arm strength challenge, hula hoop fat burning challenge, single bar suspension challenge and other strength challenges for players and spectators to experience.
This year's competition was held at the Juyongguan Great Wall for the first time, moving from an indoor stadium to an outdoor scenic spot. It not only demonstrated the tug-of-war spirit of "one rope, one heart", but also inherited and promoted the Great Wall spirit of perseverance and courage. It was a successful attempt to bring sports events into scenic spots, neighborhoods, and business districts, bringing a new experience to participants and tourists. At the same time, the competition was held in the evening, which attracted more tourists to the surrounding homestays, restaurants and other places. Using sports as a medium, it promoted consumption, promoted the prosperity of the night economy, and injected new vitality into urban development.
