China Daily Network, August 26: From August 24 to 25, the "BRICS and Multipolar World 2024 Dialogue" was held in Beijing under the guidance of the China Public Diplomacy Association and hosted by the Beijing Dialogue. Qiu Xiaoqi, vice president of the China Public Diplomacy Association, delivered an opening speech. Nearly 40 experts and scholars from countries such as China, Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa, Malaysia, Iran, India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ghana, Ethiopia and international organizations such as the South Center conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as the BRICS countries' construction of a monetary system, participation in the construction of a multipolar world, and enhancing economic resilience and cooperation.
Qiu Xiaoqi believes that the BRICS Kazan Summit will be held in October, and this dialogue is timely. In January this year, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia joined the BRICS cooperation mechanism, doubling the number of members, which is a historic large-scale expansion. At present, there are more than 40 countries that hope to join, of which more than 20 have formally applied. As the main representatives of emerging markets and developing countries, the BRICS countries have become an important force in shaping the international landscape and have made a strong voice for building a more fair, just and reasonable multipolar world order. The BRICS countries continue to strengthen unity, enabling the global South to play an increasingly important role in building a more inclusive, participatory and democratic global governance system. The current international situation is grim and complex, and the evolution of the international landscape is accelerating. The development and growth of the BRICS countries will help promote the construction of a multipolar world.
