People's Daily Online, Beijing, August 24 (Cao Xinyue, Zhong Wenxing) Martin Thungon, Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), who is visiting China, said in an interview with People's Daily Online recently that China has contributed Chinese wisdom to deepening global sustainable development, and China's sustainable development experience is worth learning from other countries.
Chun Gong was invited to attend the 40th anniversary celebration of the National People's Congress of China joining the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the 6th Seminar for Parliamentarians from Developing Countries. He said that he has a long history with China and has witnessed the growing influence of China in the Inter-Parliamentary Union. He also expressed his appreciation and support for China's achievements in poverty alleviation and sustainable development. "I hope that this opportunity will allow participating countries to learn from China's development experience," Chun Gong said.
Chun Gong said that in the past decade, the cooperation between the IPU and China in promoting sustainable development has continued to deepen. He believes that China has made important contributions to promoting sustainable development in the global South, not only providing assistance to developing countries, but also encouraging more developing countries to participate in this important issue. China's influence and action in this regard are admirable.
Chun Gong particularly emphasized China's outstanding contribution to climate change. During this visit, Chun Gong learned about China's specific projects to combat climate change. He said: "This is very important for the participants. We hope that they can put the experience learned here into practice."
The National People's Congress of China and the IPU have always maintained friendly and close relations. Chun Gong believes that China has also played a key role in global affairs such as combating terrorism and violent extremism, and looks forward to more cooperation with China in the future to jointly promote world peace and sustainable development.
