Secondary vocational schools in Guangzhou welcome new students to register for school. On the afternoon of the 25th, the Chigang Campus of Guangzhou Vocational School of Textile and Garment welcomed the registration of the 2024 class. More than 600 students, accompanied by their relatives and friends, completed the registration and officially started their secondary vocational school study life.
The reporter learned from the school that this year, the school has enrolled more than 1,100 students, of which more than 600 are in the Chigang campus and more than 500 are in the Huadu campus. Due to the popularity of some majors, candidates have a strong desire to study, and the degree supply is "shorter than demand". The originally planned class cannot meet the needs of students, so the school has to add new classes.
The image design direction of the school's fashion performance major is one of the most popular majors. Class teacher Jiang Xueying told reporters that judging from the registration situation on the afternoon of the 25th, the comprehensive quality of this year's freshmen has improved significantly compared with previous years. Both freshmen and parents are more determined, rational and clear in their choice of majors.
He Qianwei, the head teacher of the art design major, also feels the same way about the improvement in the number of students. Just this past summer, she sent off a group of graduates from her major. Facing the new faces entering the school this year, she feels that both the new students' manners and cultural literacy have improved significantly: "Just looking at the admission score line, it is a bit higher than before, and the students' understanding of the major and the path to further study is more comprehensive."
In the past, the biggest worry for secondary vocational schools was how to complete the enrollment plan, but now it is how to select high-quality students who are more suitable for vocational education. A teacher from the student affairs department believes that on the one hand, it shows that the strength, reputation and attractiveness of secondary vocational schools are constantly increasing, and on the other hand, it reflects that under the increasingly fierce competition for admission to higher education, seeing the broad space in the vocational education track, everyone's choices are becoming more rational and pragmatic.
Nong Shuting, a freshman majoring in fashion performance, was admitted to the Textile School. It was a dream come true. Although her score was good enough to go to a regular high school, she still chose vocational school as her first choice. Although Nong Shuting just graduated from junior high school, she has made some achievements in the cosplay role-playing circle. She revealed that she will open a cosplay studio in the future, and her family also fully supports her dream. "I have always had a dream of making the world more beautiful, and I have been learning related skills. Although I scored more than 530 points in the first mock exam, I finally chose a secondary vocational school." Nong Shuting said, "Choose what you love, and the path you want to take in the future."
Ms. Chen, a parent of a new student, accompanied her child to register for the Arts and Crafts major. She told reporters that she is engaged in the soft furnishing design industry, and for the sake of professional resources, she had already planned her child's further study path - her child scored more than 550 points in this year's high school entrance examination, but after thinking about it, she still chose the arts and crafts major of the vocational school as the only choice for volunteering.
Ms. Chen said that secondary vocational schools are not only a new platform for children to better integrate their personal interests with professional skills, but also a new springboard for diversified further education, allowing parents and their children to have a flexible voice in their personal future career planning and career development. She revealed that she also has a younger son who is in the first grade of junior high school, and she will continue to send her son to secondary vocational schools to learn skills in the future, in order to obtain "hard currency" on the road to job hunting through "a skill".
