Qilu.com Lightning News, August 26th. On the morning of August 25th, the final of the 2024 China Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Innovation and Creativity Competition: 'Akashi Cup' Micro-Nano Sensing Technology and Intelligent Application Competition, the highest-level professional competition for college students in the country, which lasted for 5 months, ended in Yantai Huangbohai New District. 183 projects won the first, second and third prizes in each group.
The competition yielded fruitful results, with 24 teams winning first prizes
The "Akashi Cup" Micro-Nano Sensing Technology and Intelligent Application Competition has been held for five consecutive sessions. The theme of the 2024 "Akashi Cup" China University Student Micro-Nano Competition is "Connecting the World with Sensing, Creating the Future with Intelligence". Since its launch in March, the competition has received applications from 714 teams from 160 universities and colleges in 28 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions (including Hong Kong) across the country. In the end, 309 works that won the first prize in the preliminary round entered the national finals. Among them, there are 152 entries in the graduate group, 151 entries in the undergraduate group, and 6 entries in the junior college group.
Academicians and guests present awards to the winners
On the morning of the 24th, after the launch ceremony of the finals, 309 participating teams presented their works in detail in the defense area to the jury composed of top domestic and foreign experts, corporate experts and investment experts. A large number of creative, meaningful, imaginative and creative works stood out. Their innovative spirit, exquisite design and advanced thinking impressed the rigorous jury experts. 183 teams finally stood on the "top of Huashan Mountain" of the Micro-Nano Sensing Technology and Intelligent Application Competition. Among them, there were 63 third prizes, 96 second prizes and 24 first prizes. Guo Yuzhen and other 12 university teams from North University of China won the first prize in the graduate group, and Chen Siyuan and other 12 university teams from Soochow University won the first prize in the undergraduate group.
Ma Tao's team from Xi'an University of Technology won the third prize in the graduate student group for the first time, and they were very happy. When I met Zhao Zhengcai from Xi'an Jiaotong University, he and his team members were talking excitedly with their instructor. He is now a senior, and they spent a year preparing for the competition. Although they still had some regrets during the defense, they won the second prize in the undergraduate group, which is the best proof of a year of hard work. Their mentor Fang Xudong said that he has led the team to participate in the competition for five consecutive years, and he feels that the competition is getting better and better. Not only are more and more schools participating, but the coverage is also getting wider and wider, and it covers a wide range from junior colleges to top-notch universities, which is very gratifying.

"I really didn't expect to win the first prize." Liu Yizhen from Chongqing Jiaotong University could not hide his excitement when he was interviewed. As a student from a non-key university, when he saw that Xi'an Jiaotong University, National University of Defense Technology and other well-known universities were competing in the same field, he was determined to learn and communicate, and just do his best. Unexpectedly, he won the first prize in the undergraduate group, which made him more determined about his career direction. Whether he is studying for a master's degree or doing scientific research in the future, he can continue to dig deeper into the field of sensing.
On the morning of the same day, the Jiang Zhuangde Sensor Scholarship was also awarded, and five institutions including Xi'an Jiaotong University and Dalian University of Technology won the Outstanding Organizing Unit Award for the competition. The talent policy of the "2024 First Yantai Talent Festival" was introduced to the experts, teachers and students attending the meeting.
Micro-nano sensing has great potential in the future
Jiang Zhuangde, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, initiated the "Akashi Cup" Micro-Nano Sensing Technology and Intelligent Application Competition, which has gone through an extraordinary five-year journey. At the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineers, Jiang Zhuangde first proposed the idea of the competition. Over the past five years, the continuous increase in the number of participating teams and participants is the best proof of this.
Academician Jiang Zhuangde delivered a speech
Talking about the doubling of participating teams this year, Jiang Zhuangde said that in addition to the universities paying more attention to students' practical ability, what is more important is the demand for scientific and industrial development and the rapid growth of products. As mentioned at the opening ceremony, with the continuous development of the Internet of Things, big data, robots, artificial intelligence, aerospace, and life and health fields, smart sensing has encountered a major development opportunity period.
It is understood that Academician Jiang's hometown is Dalian, so every time he comes to Yantai, he feels very close, just like returning to his hometown. He said that Yantai is a very good city, whether it is urban construction or industrialization process. Regarding Yantai's industrial transformation and the cultivation of new quality productivity, Jiang Zhuangde said that Yantai attaches great importance to sensors and micro-nano manufacturing, and this direction will also make due contributions to Yantai in the future.
The core of new quality productivity lies in innovation and the key lies in talents
After the award ceremony, a high-end dialogue meeting of academicians on micro-nano sensing technology and intelligent manufacturing was held, and 9 academician experts shared their views on "cultivating new quality productivity to enable high-quality development."
High-level dialogue meeting of academicians on micro-nano sensing technology and intelligent manufacturing
They believe that new quality productivity is closely related to the development of a region or a city, and we must attach importance to cultivating new quality productivity. The core of new quality productivity is innovation, and the discovery, use and improvement of talents are the most critical elements. When conducting scientific research, teachers and students must pay attention to implementation and combine it with demand. Only when it is applied to practice can it be transformed into productivity and serve productivity. The "Akashi Cup" competition is very visionary and sensitively grasps the direction of industrial development. Through the competition, it brings together outstanding talents from all over the country and forms a talent gathering effect. Colleges and universities should also pay more attention to the cultivation of talents, take the construction of curriculum systems, knowledge systems, etc. as important topics, think more, practice more, and lay a talent foundation for industrial development.
