On August 24, more than 4,300 undergraduate freshmen from all over the country arrived at Southeast University to register, ready to start a new university journey. It is reported that this year a total of 2,340 freshmen began their study life at the Sipailou Campus of Southeast University. This is the first time in recent years that more than half of the freshmen registered at the Sipailou Campus.
This year, Southeast University welcomed more than ten young students. Among them, Tan Ruiqi, from the No. 2 Middle School in Fushun City, Liaoning Province, was born in April 2010 and is the first "post-2010" student in the history of Southeast University. When asked about the reason for his precociousness, Tan Ruiqi said three words: "I love reading." Because of his wide range of interests, he has been knowledgeable since he was a child. The more books he reads, the more questions he has in his mind. Tan Ruiqi said that being admitted to Southeast University has been his long-term goal and he has made a lot of efforts for it.
When talking about his idols, Tan Ruiqi said: "When I was in primary school, my class hung portraits of scientists Qian Sanqiang and Li Siguang. I searched their deeds on the Internet out of curiosity and was moved by their stories. I hope I can be a useful person like them. Look at the world with equal eyes and serve the country! After all, only when the country is doing well can we do well!"
Ji Xingyue, a student from Tongzhou Senior High School in Jiangsu Province, scored 685 points (ranked 167th in the physics and other subjects category in Jiangsu Province) in this year's college entrance examination. Talking about the reason for choosing Southeast University, Ji Xingyue said: "Southeast University has always been my dream, and its motto of 'striving for perfection' deeply attracted me. It has cultivated many talents for the motherland and made great contributions to scientific research. Last year, my cousin was admitted to Southeast University. He often shared with me the educational philosophy of 'classes are more important than life, students are the first' and the dormitory conditions of 'four-person rooms with air conditioning', which made me determined to apply for Southeast University."
Wang Hengheng, a student from Qingyang Middle School in Anhui Province, was admitted to the engineering experimental class (smart construction, functional transportation and advanced materials). She scored a high score of 149 in English in this year's college entrance examination. As a child born in the countryside, compared with children in big cities, Wang Hengheng's English "starting line" appeared later than many people. She was not exposed to English until the first grade of junior high school, and she only learned ABC at the age of 12. Talking about how she achieved such good English grades. She said: "I went to Ducun Township Junior High School in Qingyang County in junior high school, where I met a particularly good English teacher. Her name is Zhou Yanping. Like an older sister, she cares about us in life and has very strict requirements for learning. Because I like Teacher Zhou, I fell in love with English."
This year, there are 142 students from Jiangsu Province who scored full marks in physics. For example, Cheng Yubo from Jiangsu Hua Luogeng Middle School scored full marks in physics in the college entrance examination and was admitted to the economics category (digital economy and intelligent management). Wang Yiming from Jiangsu Baipu Senior High School also scored full marks in physics this time and was admitted to the biological science category.
To ensure the smooth registration of new students, Southeast University has newly designed a "green channel" for new students. The branch campuses provide green channel services for students. The Sipailou campus has set up a "one-stop" campus check-in, and the Jiulonghu campus has launched a "sinking" registration service, which handles tuition and accommodation fee deferrals for new students from families with financial difficulties, explains the funding policy, and distributes learning and living supplies. At the same time, the school has set up the Ruihua Chunyu Freshman Bursary, and the scholarship application form is sent with the admission notice. A total of 492 freshmen's application materials were received this time. Representatives of various types of evaluations will conduct a comprehensive review and publicize based on the application form situation, home visit data, etc. Among them, 100 new students from families with financial difficulties will be given admission subsidies of 2,500 yuan each. The school will issue scholarships as soon as possible after the start of school to solve the problem of these students' difficulties in enrollment due to family financial difficulties.
