Sarajevo, August 24 (Xinhua)(Reporter Yin Xiaosheng) The 30th Sarajevo Film Festival closed in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the evening of the 23rd, with more than 240 films from 70 countries and regions participating. The Romanian film "Three Kilometers from the End of the World" directed by Emanuel Pervu won the "Heart of Sarajevo" Best Feature Film Award.
On the same day, the "Heart of Sarajevo" award ceremony was held at the "Eternal Flame", one of the local landmark buildings. A total of 57 films competed for the highest award of the film festival, the "Heart of Sarajevo" award. American actress Meg Ryan, American actor and director John Turturro and others received the "Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award" in recognition of their outstanding contributions to film art. In addition, new films by Bosnian director Denis Tanovic and many other directors premiered in Sarajevo.
This year, the film festival cooperated with the United Nations Development Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina to establish a new award, the "Special Award for Environmental Awareness", to arouse people's thinking on environmental protection and climate change.
The Sarajevo Film Festival was founded in 1995 and has now developed into a major cultural event in Southeast Europe. This year's film festival lasts for 8 days and has set up multiple competition categories such as feature films, documentaries, short films, and student films.
