China News Service, Beijing, August 24 (Reporter Xu Jing) "Green grass comes, snow-capped mountains come, rivers come, cranes come, and Tashi Delek comes." On the evening of the 23rd, the original children's play "Black Eyes on the Plateau" premiered at the Beijing Nanluo Theater. The play presents the development and changes brought about by the aid work to Yushu from the perspective of children, and shows the magnificent natural scenery and simple ethnic customs of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
As a key drama of Beijing Performing Arts Group in 2024, the original children's drama "Black Eyes on the Plateau" is set in the Qinghai Longbao National Nature Reserve. It integrates children's drama, music, singing and dancing, puppetry and other artistic forms of expression, refreshing the perception of traditional children's drama. It tells the touching story of Beijing boy Xia Tian and Yushu boy Tashi and other friends from meeting and acquaintance to accompanying and cherishing each other, and finally forming a deep friendship.
Ethnic customs are integrated into children's drama
"This is a story about a Beijing child approaching the plateau, falling in love with the plateau, and gaining spiritual growth. It is also a stage play produced by Beijing that deeply showcases the beauty of Yushu." Zhao Jiachen, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Beijing Performing Arts Group, said that the presentation method of children's plays injects a more vivid and unique atmosphere into the play, using drama to build a bridge for children to understand the world.
The grass planting experts and doctors who aid Qinghai portrayed in the children's play "Black Eyes on the Plateau" are the epitome of the cadres who aid Qinghai in real life. Since 2023, Beijing Performing Arts Group has started in-depth cooperation with the Qinghai Yushu Command of the Beijing Municipal Support and Cooperation Leading Group. With the strong support of the Publicity Department of the Yushu Prefecture Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Yushu Prefecture Education Bureau, the main creative team has visited Yushu, Qinghai for many times to collect folk songs and have in-depth experiences. At the same time, they invited local Tibetan singers and young actors from Yushu to the rehearsal site of Beijing Children's Art Theater to rehearse with the main creative actors, and finally presented a Tibetan children's play full of ethnic customs, full of childlike fun and sincere feelings to the audience.

On the day of the premiere, dozens of Qinghai aid cadres and their families came to the scene. Li Yuhai, Party Secretary and Commander of the Beijing Qinghai Yushu Command, Deputy Secretary of the Yushu State Committee and Deputy Governor of the State Government, said that "Black Eyes on the Plateau" integrates realistic materials with art, and is also a common achievement of cultural cooperation between Beijing and Qinghai Yushu. He hopes that this play can be introduced to Qinghai and the whole country.
The scenery of Sanjiangyuan is brought to the stage
"Black Eyes on the Plateau" is the first original Tibetan-style children's play by Beijing Children's Art Theatre. The play was created by Beijing Children's Art Theatre director Wang Bingran and senior creative people in the industry. In order to show the simple and pure original ethnic customs of Yushu, the play also specially invited Tibetan female singer Baima Yongxi and Tibetan male singer Yongding Ranjie to perform with professional actors from Beijing Children's Art Theatre.
Entering the theater, a strong "Tibetan atmosphere" hits you in the face. The creative performance team fully utilizes the three visual cores of "snow-capped mountains, green grass, and rivers" to cleverly construct an artistic space with Yushu landforms and Tibetan temperament, and poetically brings the humanistic features of Sanjiangyuan to the stage. Plateau animals such as black-necked cranes, marmots, wild yaks, white-lipped deer, red-crested ducks, and bar-headed geese are also presented on the stage in the form of "puppets".

At the premiere launch ceremony, the crew specially prepared consumption coupons for local hotels in Yushu for the audience, and invited Beijing audiences to travel to Yushu; the crew launched a public welfare activity to donate stationery and books to the audience, announced the donation address of Yushu on the spot, and called on young audiences to donate stationery and books to the children of Yushu to share knowledge and joy.
Wang Dong, president of Beijing Children's Art Theater, said that the consumer voucher activities and public welfare activities tailored for the play are another attempt by Beijing Children's Art Theater in "drama + cultural tourism" and "drama + public welfare". "Black Eyes on the Plateau" is not only a children's play, but also an invitation letter and a bond of love. It hopes to promote the beautiful Yushu through a literary and artistic work.
Along with the performance of children's plays, Nanluo Theater has created a variety of cultural activities with the theme of "Sanjiangyuan". The "All Things Coexist" Sanjiangyuan photography exhibition, Sanjiangyuan knowledge quiz with prizes, tasting of Yushu special snacks, and the public welfare activities of protecting Sanjiangyuan have transformed Nanluo Theater from a single theater into a "Tibetan cultural theme park" where people can play.
The children's play "Black Eyes on the Plateau" is produced by Beijing Performing Arts Group and Beijing Qinghai Yushu Command, and produced and performed by Beijing Children's Art Theater. The play will be performed for the first time at Nanluo Theater from August 23 to 25, and will then go on a national tour. (End)
