IT Home reported on August 23 that the latest data released by market research firm MarkLines showed that in the second quarter of this year (April-June), BYD ranked seventh among the world's largest automakers with global new car sales of 980,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 40%.

The report said that due to certification violations and reduced demand for pure electric vehicles, sales of Toyota Group (2.63 million, ranked first) and Volkswagen Group (2.24 million, ranked second) both declined.
BYD's global new car sales in the second quarter of 2024 were 980,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 40%. Overseas sales reached 105,000 units, an increase of about 3 times. The latest ranking is seventh, surpassing Honda (920,000 units, eighth) for the first time.
BYD's sales from April to June 2023 were 700,000 vehicles, ranking only 10th in the world, but within one year it surpassed the top-ranked Honda, Nissan and Suzuki, and is approaching Ford (1.14 million vehicles), one of the three largest automakers in the United States. The possibility of further breaking the industry ranking is high.
