2024 National Canoe Slalom Championships kicks off

On August 21, the 2024 National Canoe Slalom Championship kicked off at the Xiasi Canoe Slalom Base in Kaili, Qiandongnan Prefecture. A total of 260 athletes from 20 teams from provinces (cities) across the country participated in the event.

It is reported that this competition is carried out in accordance with the 2023 edition of the International Canoe Federation Canoe Slalom Competition Rules and the 2024 Extreme Kayak Rules. The competition is divided into two major groups, men's and women's, and the events are divided into five events: single kayak, single rowing, single kayak team, single rowing team, and extreme kayak. Athletes need to follow the correct direction of the water gate design and the correct requirements to pass through the water gate connection.

At the opening ceremony, Wang Jianhua, deputy governor of Qiandongnan Prefecture, delivered a speech, saying that since its establishment in 2006, the Xiasi Canoe Slalom Training Base has been committed to serving the national and provincial teams in preparation for training and competitions, and has successfully undertaken international and national canoe slalom events and transfer training tasks for the national and provincial teams for many times. In 2015, it was honored to be awarded the title of "National Canoe Slalom Qiandongnan Training Base" by the State General Administration of Sports. In order to further enhance the ability of the Xiasi Canoe Base to provide training services for the national and provincial teams, the comprehensive upgrading and renovation project of the base has been launched since 2020, with a total investment of 160 million yuan to build supporting facilities such as athlete apartments, athlete service centers, indoor training halls, and rehabilitation and physiotherapy halls. Taking this opportunity, we also sincerely invite the national team and sports teams from brother provinces and cities to come to Xiasi for preparation training, come to the beautiful Qiandongnan, appreciate our colorful national culture, and feel the beautiful scenery of the ecological state.

Women's Single Kayak
As the competition progressed, the competitors showed extraordinary skills and courage in the turbulent river, and every stroke was a reflection of their sweat and persistence. On both sides of the track, the cheers of teammates and coaches continued, painting a picture of youthful enthusiasm under the scorching sun.
Men's Single Kayak
The competition is hosted by the Water Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Canoeing Association, the Guizhou Provincial Sports Bureau, and the People's Government of Qiandongnan Prefecture, undertaken by the Guizhou Provincial Water Sports Development Center and the Qiandongnan Prefecture Culture, Sports, Radio, Film and Television and Tourism Bureau, and co-organized by the Guizhou Boating Sports Association.
