Zhongan Online and Zhongan News Client reported that recently, the four-day 2024 Dandelion Science Camp of Anhui Science and Technology Museum was held in Hefei. The theme of this event was "Chasing Science Stars, Building the Dream of a Strong Country". Through a series of colorful visits and practical activities, nearly 70 outstanding primary and secondary school students from all over the province were able to experience the charm of scientists up close, comprehend the true meaning of the spirit of scientists, and complete a scientific journey full of exploration and discovery.
In this science camp, Anhui Science and Technology Museum integrated high-quality exhibition and education resources, innovated the form of activities, and "linked with Anhui Innovation Museum", "combined museums and institutes" with scientific research institutes, and "mutual assistance between museums and enterprises" with science and technology enterprises, jointly creating a full-scale and multi-angle learning and experience scene for campers. During the event, under the guidance of professional science and technology tutors, the campers visited the Anhui Science and Technology Museum, Anhui Innovation Museum, China University of Science and Technology History Museum and other scientific spirit education bases, watched films of older scientists such as Qian Xuesen and Yuan Longping, and the popular science drama "National Star Yonghuai" based on the story of scientist Guo Yonghuai, listened to the theme lecture on the spirit of scientists, visited famous scientific research institutions such as the National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, took a future aircraft to travel in the mysterious universe, and walked into the production line of science and technology innovation enterprises such as Jianghuai Horticulture. The children carefully observed, practiced with their own hands, and explored in depth. They not only felt the charm of science and technology, understood the life stories, outstanding contributions, and the noble spirit of pursuing scientific truth and climbing the peak of science of scientists, but also experienced a lot of knowledge that could not be learned from books, and improved their hands-on ability and teamwork ability. The science camp also invited many scientific research experts and front-line science and technology workers to teach the campers. They used their personal experiences to explain scientific principles to the children, demonstrate technological applications, and promote the spiritual connotation of scientists. The vivid explanations and interesting interactions not only stimulated the children's interest and enthusiasm in science, but also made them more determined to devote themselves to science in the future.
At the closing ceremony, the children enthusiastically showed their learning achievements and experiences. Some of them used vivid language to describe their understanding of the spirit of scientists, and some showed their gains in practical activities through exquisite handicrafts. Shu Kaining, a student from Aquilia Primary School in Changfeng County, Hefei City, said in his speech: "Under the guidance of the teacher from the Science and Technology Museum, I made a telescope with my own hands. While listening carefully, I assembled the eyepiece and objective lens. My heart was full of pride and novelty. From this, I understood that practice makes perfect." Zhu Qingyan, a student from Shou County No. 1 Experimental Primary School in Huainan City, spoke with emotion: "During the time in the Dandelion Science Camp, it was as if I was in a world full of wisdom and exploration. Listening to the struggle stories of those great scientists, I felt infinite admiration in my heart. I want to bring this love and admiration for science back to school and home, and continue to study hard and explore unknown areas."
The successful holding of the 2024 Dandelion Science Camp at Anhui Science and Technology Museum not only provides a platform for young people to understand and love science, but also sets a shining example for them - scientists who are not afraid of hardships and are brave enough to explore on the road of science. I believe that in the days to come, there will be more young people who will continue to pursue their dreams on the road of science and contribute their own strength to the country's science and technology.
