"In the women's rapid pistol shooting event, Shanxi Special Police contestant No. 5 hit all 12 shots in a time of 1 minute 41 seconds 470, and the result is valid!" After hearing the results announced on the field, Su Kaiqin from the Yangcheng County Public Security Bureau of Jincheng City let out a long breath and walked out of the competition area with a smile.
From August 13 to 17, the "Sharp Knife Mission" 2024 National Public Security Special Police Challenge was fiercely held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. 35 elite teams from all over the country, totaling 420 public security special police and special service members participated. As the only female police officer among the 12 participating members of the Shanxi Special Police Team, Su Kaiqin submitted the answer sheet for the first national competition in her police career...
Daily life·Brilliant youth
Su Kaiqin was born in August 2001 and studied investigation at the China Criminal Police College. In 2023, after four years of study and life at the police academy, Su Kaiqin passed the public security joint examination and officially joined the Yangcheng public security team.
At first, she worked in the Criminal Investigation Brigade of Yangcheng County Public Security Bureau, and then was transferred to Runcheng Police Station to do clerical work. Despite the change of job positions, she always set high standards for herself, and she always insisted on training on the playground through the seasons.
As a newcomer to the police force, she studied various professional knowledge carefully, adapted to the environment quickly, and walked all over the town and villages: summer night squares, residential alleys, fields, and people's sides; handling household registration, answering calls, resolving conflicts, public security propaganda and prevention... The people of Runcheng Town all remembered this lively, cheerful and warm-hearted "big girl".
In the eyes of his colleagues, Su Kaiqin, who has just joined the police force for a year, is both literary and martial.
Speaking of literature, she is a literary and artistic backbone of educated youth: in May this year, she won the third prize in the "Good Book Sharing, I Am in the Book" reading competition of Jincheng Public Security Bureau. In June, she won the Excellence Award in the "Concentrate Hearts, Forge Souls, Work Hard and Take Responsibility" micro-party class competition in Yangcheng County.
In terms of martial arts, she is a training model SWAT elite: in 2023, she performed outstandingly in the Jincheng City Patrol Special Police Competition and was recommended by the Jincheng City Public Security Bureau to participate in the selection of the Provincial Public Security Department. After numerous assessments, she was selected into the 100-person "vanguard" training team with her solid shooting foundation.
Training and Refining
In early July, one and a half months before the National Public Security Special Police Challenge, the Provincial Public Security Department selected police officers from various cities to Taiyuan for training. Su Kaiqin, who performed outstandingly in the 2023 Jincheng Public Security Special Police Competition, was selected.
Shooting tests not only skills but also mentality. "The intense training for a month before the competition, running back and forth in heavy gear under the scorching sun, with sweat and tears, but being able to compete and learn together with top soldiers from all over the country, all the hard work is worth it." As the youngest special police officer among the contestants in the province, Su Kaiqin, who has been in the police force for one year, cherishes this opportunity to learn and grow.
After the first round of testing, only four of the 10 shortlisted female police officers in the province remained to participate in the training.
During the pre-match training, Su Kaiqin, who was participating in the training for the first time, lacked experience. Facing the pressure of elimination in weekly assessments, his performance fluctuated several times and his mentality was unbalanced for a time.
After adjusting her mindset, she focused on her technical movements and started training from the most basic: holding the gun, pulling the trigger, determining the aiming area...
"Focus on the task and strive for perfection." She repeated this to herself over and over again, from shooting by inertia at the beginning to being able to control each step accurately later. Before the competition, she knew the entire process and each target by heart, including drawing the gun, preloading, aiming, moving the sight and switching... Every action was honed over and over again.
In the hot summer, Su Kaiqin wore a heavy tactical vest, flipped over the board, sprinted, fired, and aimed, striving to be accurate and fast in every step. During the 36 days of hard training, she fired nearly 4,000 bullets and shed countless sweat.
After going through layers of selection, Su Kaiqin stood out from more than 100 training team members and became the only female police officer among the 12 participating members of the Shanxi Special Police Team. After everything was ready, she immediately went to Hangzhou with the team.
Competition field·Hone the vanguard
When I first arrived at the competition venue, the environment felt familiar yet unfamiliar.
The competition schedule was detailed and standardized, the equipment was sharp and angular... The seriousness of the national competition was like a wall of air blowing in one's face. On the competition day, Su Kaiqin's palms were slightly sweaty, and a real sense of tension struck his heart.
Breathe, be calm, and focus. Recall the essentials of pistol shooting. Get rid of distractions, reset everything, get the gun, check in, wait in line, receive ammunition, run 60 meters quickly and climb over the high board, get in position, draw the gun, aim, and shoot!
A round target with a diameter of 10 cm, at a distance of 15 meters, was hit with one shot; a three-headed linked hostage swing target and a six-headed windmill target, at a distance of 10 meters, gunshots rang out one after another, and all ten bullets hit the target!
For the last shot, Su Kaiqin's hands began to tremble slightly. He was nervous, very nervous, extremely nervous: a moving target with a diameter of 5 cm, a speed of 20 cm per second, the size of an egg, and a distance of 7 meters... "No matter what the situation, you must use the correct action, form the correct aiming situation and then shoot." The coach's words flashed through his mind quickly. He put away the gun, took a deep breath, pulled the gun out again, pulled the trigger, and the last bullet was fired, hitting the target. He returned to the finish line and confirmed the result!
As the only female member of the Shanxi Special Police Team, Su Kaiqin finally won the 9th place in the women's rapid pistol shooting event and successfully completed her first national competition.
