Moreira's family posted an obituary on social media: "She passed away peacefully in her sleep, as she wished, without suffering."

According to AFP, Moreira spent the last 20 years of her life in a nursing home in Olot, northeastern Catalonia. She posted on the 19th of this month that she felt "weak" and told her family, "Time is running out. Don't cry, I don't like tears. Most importantly, don't be sad for me. I will be happy wherever I go."

Before her death, the old lady believed that her longevity was due to "her being organized, calm, emotionally stable, close to family and friends, close to nature, carefree, and positive," as well as "good luck and good genes."

Her youngest daughter also attributed her mother's longevity to "genes", saying in an interview with a local TV station in 2023 that her mother "had never been to the hospital and was in good health."
