After four years, the Wuhan Open will be held again at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center. On August 20, the ticket opening ceremony for the 2024 Dongfeng Lantu Wuhan Open was held at Wuhan Minzhong Park.
This year's event will be held from October 5 to 13. As a Women's Tennis Association (WTA) 1000 event, the Wuhan Open is second only to the four Grand Slams and is one of the three highest-level tennis events in China. This year's event attracted many world-class players to participate.
As for domestic players, Zheng Qinwen, the women's singles champion of the Paris Olympics, and Wang Xinyu, the runner-up of the mixed doubles, will represent the host country to show the strength of Chinese tennis. In the international arena, top players such as this year's French Open champion Swiatek, this year's Wimbledon champion Krejcikova, this year's Australian Open champion and two-time Wuhan Open champion Sabalenka, and 2023 US Open champion Gauff will also gather in Wuhan to bring a world-class viewing feast to tennis fans.
As the Wuhan Open approaches, the ticket sales system was officially launched at 12:00 on August 20. This year, there will be 106 exciting matches at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center. The event is divided into two stages: the qualifying round from October 5 to 6, and the main competition from October 7 to 13.
In order to ensure that all participating players can prepare for the competition in the best condition, the organizing committee has specially adjusted the details of the schedule this year, arranging a maximum of five matches per day for each stadium. During the main competition, there will be exciting matches every day at the Central Stadium, Stadium 1 and the competition venue of the Olympic Sports Center to meet the diverse viewing needs of fans.
The three venues will also provide separate ticketing services, including carnival tickets, enjoyment tickets and central stadium tickets. Among them, there is no day and night division for the qualifiers, semi-finals and finals, while the main competition provides ticket options for day and evening sessions. The central stadium includes infield tickets, and the prices range from a minimum of 580 yuan to 1,880 yuan, and the prices of stand tickets range from 180 yuan to 680 yuan. Taking into account the viewing needs of different audiences, the price of the No. 1 stadium enjoyment ticket is unified at 100 yuan, and the carnival ticket for the Olympic Sports Center is 50 yuan, so that fans can enjoy exciting events all day long.
At the same time, the Central Stadium also launched special discount tickets. Fans who purchase "limited single tickets" or "limited package tickets" between August 20 and 22 can enjoy super discounts ranging from 20% to 25%. There is a quantity limit for each game and each period. Fans can log in to the official WeChat account of the Wuhan Open to check.
In the golden autumn of October, tennis fans in Wuhan not only have the opportunity to witness the fierce competition between the world's top players and feel the heart-pounding atmosphere of the stadium, but also experience a series of tennis-related activities. This year, the organizing committee used the event as a carrier, linked cultural and sports tourism, and set up the "Wuhan Open Carnival" theme event, providing the audience with a diversified entertainment experience and further igniting Wuhan's passion for tennis.
The carnival event is themed "Get moving, shop for excitement" and will last from October 1 to 13, covering the entire National Day holiday. It will be held at the sub-venue Wuhan Tiandi from October 1 to 4, and at the main venue Optics Valley International Tennis Center from October 5 to 13, presenting more excitement to the audience.
The main venue, Optics Valley International Tennis Center, will feature four major activities: the "LOVE Wuhan Open" grandstand, Dopamine Sports Fair, "Shop Wonderful" market and Wuhan Open Food Festival, covering live performances, offline shopping, photo-taking, interactive experience and other functions. The sub-venue, Wuhan Tiandi, will also bring fashionable and novel curatorial design and rich and diverse layout planning to attract fans and tourists to check in and consume during the National Day holiday.
In order to attract more audiences to experience the diverse charm of tennis, the organizing committee specially planned two offline tennis events. "Let's go! Let's play tennis" is an event to make friends through tennis. Interested audiences can search for "Wuhan Tennis Open" on Xiaohongshu to participate in the event. The "Tennis Fever in the City" event uses the innovative model of "sports + cultural tourism" to set up tennis-themed check-in points at multiple landmark locations in Wuhan. Audiences can take photos and check in at these locations and share their passion for tennis through social media.
