According to Modern Express, on August 20, Nanjing held a press conference to report and interpret the recently issued "Nanjing Action Plan for Cultivating and Developing the Commercial Space Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Action Plan").

Focusing on actively building a commercial aerospace industry innovation center and development highland with national influence, the "Action Plan" clearly defines 16 specific tasks in four aspects: "building a commercial aerospace industry chain, promoting collaborative innovation between industry, academia, research and application, cultivating commercial aerospace application scenarios, and promoting efficient and agglomerated development of the industry", including the research and development and manufacturing of satellites and commercial rockets, the expansion of satellite communication applications, and the application of satellite remote sensing.

In the next step, Nanjing will improve its organizational mechanism, perfect policy support, strengthen factor guarantee, and consolidate talent support to ensure the implementation of various tasks in the Action Plan, and strive to build a commercial aerospace industry system driven by satellite communication, navigation and remote sensing applications, guided by the improvement of industrial capacity, and with the construction of an ecological system as its core.

Interpretation:At the end of last year, the Central Economic Work Conference proposed to build several strategic emerging industries such as biomanufacturing, commercial aerospace, and low-altitude economy. At this year's National People's Congress, "commercial aerospace" was written into the government work report for the first time as one of the important new growth engines of new quality productivity.

The so-called "commercial space" refers to space activities that are market-oriented and have a commercial profit model. At present, Beijing, Shanghai, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Hainan, Guangdong, Inner Mongolia, Shandong and other places have successively introduced policies to vigorously promote the development of the commercial space industry. Specifically for Nanjing, what is the confidence to seize the emerging track?

In fact, Nanjing's aerospace industry has a solid foundation, having gathered nearly 80 companies including China Electronics 14th Institute, China Electronics Rice, Chenguang Group, and Nanjing Electromechanical Hydraulics, and has built an industrial system focusing on power system manufacturing, airborne system manufacturing, UAV research and development, and air traffic control system development.

In addition, Nanjing has many universities related to aviation majors, such as Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Nanjing University of Science and Technology, as well as innovation platforms such as 2 national key technology laboratories and 3 national defense key laboratories. It has a total of 12 academicians from the two academies of aerospace and has rich scientific and educational talent resources.

In June last year, the "Nanjing City Action Plan for Promoting Industrial Strength (2023-2025)" included the aerospace industry in the "2+6+6" innovative industrial cluster, and proposed to build it into a nationally influential aerospace industry R&D and manufacturing highland by 2025. This is also an important support for Nanjing to achieve the goal of "GDP exceeding 2 trillion yuan, and the proportion of manufacturing value added in GDP stabilizing at more than 30%" by 2025.

Not long ago, Guotai Junan Securities released a research report stating that commercial aerospace, as an important direction of new quality productivity, is currently shifting from the introduction stage to the growth stage, and policy support is expected to promote its rapid development. With SpaceX's valuation of US$210 billion, the domestic market size is expected to reach trillions.

Faced with this huge "blue ocean", many places are eager to try. However, some industry insiders also remind that commercial aerospace is high-tech, high-risk, high-efficiency and long-term, which requires the whole society to be very tolerant and patient with innovation and failure. Change of thinking is the most fundamental requirement.

Zhengzhou and Suzhou are among the top 10 cities to check in on Douyin

On August 20, the National Image Communication Research Center of Tsinghua University released the White Paper on Mass Cultural Tourism Life in the Short Video Era. The white paper points out that short video live broadcasts have become a "message board" for users to interact with local cultural tourism and a "grass-planting machine" for online travel. Mass cultural tourism needs to make good use of short video live broadcasts to promote the upgrading of urban management and cultural tourism services and achieve the transformation from "traffic" to "retention".

Driven by short video live streaming, new highlights are constantly being discovered in old tourist cities. The white paper shows that as of May 2024, Chongqing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and other cities are among the top 10 cities with the most Douyin users. Niche destinations such as villages have also gained new attention through short video live streaming. For example, Hongcun in Huangshan City is called "a must-visit place for art students" by Douyin users, and netizens who are tired of artificial landscapes go to Xidao Fishing Village in Sanya City to catch seafood... According to statistics in the white paper, Hongcun, Xidao Fishing Village, Xiaocun and other villages have become the top 10 villages with the most Douyin users.

In terms of communication content, cultural and tourism communication in the era of short videos presents the characteristics of "4C", that is, turning from grand narratives to focusing on traditional culture (Culture), food (Cuisine), traditional festivals (Celebration) and small cuts into the daily lives of ordinary people (Crowd).

The white paper analysis points out that the cultural tourism communication model in the era of short videos has changed from top-down, government-led to bottom-up, multi-subject participation. These communication subjects include the government, platform influencers, merchants, tourists and citizens. Among them, the "Z generation" young people, as the main communicators, have created new tourism phenomena such as "special forces tourism", "citywalk", "looking for travel partners" and "dopamine travel", which reflects that consumers are increasingly paying attention to the cost-effectiveness and emotional experience of cultural tourism products.
