This summer, many tourists reported that it was difficult to get a ticket to the Forbidden City. The tickets were sold out in seconds every day, making it difficult to get one. So, where did the 40,000 tickets sold every day go?

Ticket reservations sold out in seconds

The highest price offered by scalpers is 26 times higher than the official website

The reporter's investigation found that some out-of-town tourists bought tickets through scalpers.

A tourist from Henan told reporters: We are a family of five who came to Beijing for a trip. We couldn't get tickets for the Forbidden City before we came. In order to avoid regrets on this trip, the mother of the child bought the tickets from a scalper online, adding 100 yuan to the price of each ticket.

However, the price of scalper tickets has also risen.

Mr. Yang from Beijing told reporters: The price increase of 70 to 100 yuan is the price during the off-season. Now, the price of non-guaranteed reservation tickets (that is, there is no guarantee whether you can make a reservation) is 300 yuan higher, and it must be booked at least 7 days in advance. That means many tourists have to buy tickets from them before coming to Beijing.

As far as I know, a guaranteed reservation ticket costs 1,100 yuan. If you want to go at the last minute, a guaranteed ticket outside the reservation period (i.e. within 7 days) has been sold for 1,600 yuan, while the peak season ticket on the Palace Museum official website is only 60 yuan per ticket.
