On August 16, the WeChat public account "Zhenguan" published an article titled "A girl from another province died in my rented apartment." The public account is based in Xi'an and is a large self-media account with many fans and has been operating for many years. The author of the article is Twelve Oaks, who claimed that a 33-year-old woman from Ningxia died in her rented apartment on the 30th floor in Xi'an.

The article was widely read in WeChat Moments over the weekend, sparking widespread sympathy and heated online discussion. But soon after, many netizens questioned the authenticity of the relevant details in the article and discussed the boundary between "non-fiction" and "story" creation.

On August 18, "Zhenguan" deleted the article and stated that what was described in the article was a true event.

On August 19, staff from the Xianyang Municipal Public Security Bureau responded to the media that the incident was true and that the crime scene was under the jurisdiction of the Qindu Branch. The case is currently being handled and people can stay tuned for updates on the follow-up.

On the evening of the 19th, "Zheng Xinwen" contacted a villager from the deceased's hometown, who introduced that the deceased's surname was Chen and he was familiar with the Chen family.

The villager told Zhengzheng News that Chen's family was well-off and the situation in the village was not bad either, so it was not difficult for them to borrow money from anywhere. The woman was a bit withdrawn and did not interact with the villagers much. The specific cause of death was not disclosed, "mainly because of her own mental fragility. She was the kind of person who lived in her own world."
