The Paris Olympics just ended, and young table tennis players from Shanghai and Taiwan are eager to try their hand at friendly exchanges. 12-year-old Shanghai player Xiao Zilin is playing against Taiwanese players for the first time, and hopes to enjoy the competition. She said that her parents are both professional table tennis players, and they brought back some gifts from the Paris Olympics, "I hope to gain friendship and exchange some gifts with Taiwanese children this time." Wang Yunzhu, a player from Changhua, Taiwan, also expressed her love for Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha, and is looking forward to competing with Shanghai players.
At the opening ceremony of the event, Wang Liqin, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association and Director of the Shanghai Competitive Sports Training Management Center, also came to the scene. As a winner of 17 world championships during his athletic career, Wang Liqin ignited the enthusiasm of young people in Shanghai and Taiwan. Table tennis rackets, table tennis balls, and table tennis jerseys were constantly handed to him for autographs, and he responded one by one. The young people who got what they wanted all had satisfied smiles on their faces.
Wang Liqin signed autographs for the players on the spot.
