BEIJING, August 19 (Xinhua) -- Russian media reported on the 19th, citing a warning from a Russian Foreign Ministry official that if Poland intercepts Russian missiles over Ukraine, it will trigger a "concrete and adequate" response from Russia.
On the 19th, the Russian Satellite News Agency released an exclusive interview with Oleg Dyapkin, director of the Third European Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the interview, Dyapkin said that if Poland intercepts Russia's "long-range weapons used against Ukraine" out of "adventurist impulses", Russia will give a "full and very specific response."
Tyapkin said that Russia has repeatedly pointed out the risks of Western countries "directly participating in military operations" on the side of Ukraine. Poland and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization are fully aware of Russia's position, and "there is no room for negotiation on this matter."
According to reports, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said at a seminar hosted by a US agency in July that Poland was considering the possibility of shooting down Russian missiles over Ukraine to prevent them from falling into Polish territory. French media reported in June, citing Ukrainian officials, that Ukraine was seeking its European allies to deploy air defense systems in Poland and Romania to establish a "no-fly zone" over western Ukraine against Russia.
