China News Service, August 19. According to a report by RIA Novosti on August 19 local time, the Director of the Third European Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gapkin, said in an interview with the media that Russia has formally asked Germany to investigate the "Nord Stream" incident.

According to reports, Tyapkin said that Germany has now put a Ukrainian citizen suspected of committing terrorist acts in the Baltic Sea on the wanted list.

"Given that the German media has long and systematically spread the view that the perpetrators (of the Nord Stream incident) have nothing to do with any country, the German investigation may also end without finding out the real mastermind behind the explosion... Russia cannot tolerate this happening," said Gapkin.

The Nord Stream natural gas pipeline starts from Russia and reaches Germany via the bottom of the Baltic Sea. On September 26, 2022, the pipeline exploded and leaked a large amount of natural gas. The investigation found that 3 of the 4 pipelines leaked, with a total of 4 leak points located in the waters near Sweden and Denmark. After the explosion, Denmark, Sweden and Germany launched investigations respectively. Sweden and Denmark stopped the investigation in early 2024 and did not identify any suspects. Germany is still continuing its investigation.

In June 2024, Germany issued its first arrest warrant for a suspect in connection with the incident, Ukrainian citizen Vladimir Z.
