The Chengdu-Chongqing Railway runs from Chengdu in the west to Chongqing in the east. It is the first railway built in New China. Since its completion and opening to traffic, as a major transportation artery connecting western Sichuan and eastern Sichuan, the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway has made great contributions to the economic development of the entire southwest region. Now, with the accelerated construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle and the internal and external linkage of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, the 72-year-old Chengdu-Chongqing Railway is still busy.
To ensure the safety and smooth operation of the Chengdu-Chongqing artery, since June 21, the Chengdu Electric Department of China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group Co., Ltd. has organized 180 construction workers to use 717 "skylights" to comprehensively overhaul the switches, track circuits, signal machines and other equipment on the line.

This summer, heavy rainstorms occurred frequently, and the centralized repair work was carried out during the flood season. In addition, the hot weather added an invisible layer of pressure to the construction. "High temperatures, flood prevention, night work... The construction workers faced multiple challenges, and this year's centralized repair work was not easy," said Liu Rui, Party Secretary of the Ziyang Signal Workshop of the Chengdu Electric Department.
To ensure the smooth progress of the centralized repair, Chengdu Electric Power Section took the initiative to plan and organize, and carried out equipment inspection, personnel training, plan preparation and other work in advance. It also coordinated with the vehicle, engineering, power supply and other operational units to strictly control the key points such as construction quality, construction safety, and personal safety, and comprehensively improve the safety management and control capabilities of the construction site to ensure the safe and orderly implementation of the centralized repair. At the same time, heatstroke prevention and cooling materials were distributed to the construction workers to ensure their health.
This concentrated repair lasted 57 days, and a total of 100 sets of joint electrical and mechanical renovations of turnouts were completed, 5,822 sleepers were replaced in sections in cooperation with the engineering department, 100 sets of large-scale tamping machines were used in cooperation with the engineering department, 96.46 kilometers of large-scale tamping machines were used in cooperation with the engineering department, 90 matching suppressors were replaced, and 19 cables were relocated for elevated traffic construction.
The successful completion of the concentrated repair of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway has effectively improved the quality of Chengdu-Chongqing Railway signal equipment, and provided a solid guarantee for serving the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle and the Western Land-Sea New Corridor.
