The 2024 World Science Fiction Convention came to a successful conclusion on August 12, but the pace of science fiction has never stopped.
On August 14th, local time, the "Fantasy Intersection, Encounter the Future" - Science Fiction Culture Exchange London Trip was held as scheduled. The event was hosted by the Zhongguancun Science Fiction Industry Innovation Center, the China Science Writers Association, and the All-British Chinese Students and Scholars Association, and co-organized by the Chinese Students and Scholars Association of University College London and the Executive Committee of the Sustainable Development Youth Innovation and Debate Conference. It was a unique exchange event in London, UK. At the meeting, the Zhongguancun Science Fiction Industry Innovation Center, the Beijing Biomedicine Center and the All-British Chinese Students and Scholars Association signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
Gong Weimi, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Zhongguancun Science Park Management Committee, attended the forum and delivered a speech. Gong Weimi said that with the deepening of globalization, Beijing attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with countries around the world. Beijing actively builds international exchange platforms to promote the international dissemination and application of scientific and technological innovation results. By hosting various international forums, exhibitions, competitions and other activities, Beijing has established extensive contacts and cooperation with the global scientific and industrial communities. In the future, we look forward to cooperating with the All-England Student Union to jointly build a broader platform, provide more opportunities for young students from both countries to showcase their talents and realize their dreams, and inject new impetus into the scientific and technological innovation cooperation between China and the UK.

Zhong Shaohong from the UK Chinese Students and Scholars Association introduced the UK Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition to the guests and expressed his welcome on behalf of the international students in China. The UK Chinese Students and Scholars Association has been holding the UK High-level Talent Entrepreneurship Competition since 2005, and has successfully held 16 sessions. It is the largest, highest-level and most professional innovation and entrepreneurship competition in the history of international students in the UK, covering all fields and promoting the implementation of scientific and technological achievements. The competition aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship exchanges between China and the UK, attract overseas students to return to China to start businesses and serve the motherland, and gather a large number of high-level talents and excellent projects. Many projects have settled in many provinces and cities across the country.
Yao Lifen, associate researcher at the Chinese Institute for Science Popularization, member of the Chinese Writers Association, and distinguished researcher at the Chinese Science Fiction Research Center, attended the meeting online. She introduced the operation of the Chinese Science Fiction Research Center to the attendees and expressed her expectation of cooperating with international students and scholars in the UK.
The British student team introduced their recent research to the leaders and guests present. The participants exchanged views on industrial fields such as biomedicine, science fiction, and future industries, looking for opportunities for cooperation. At the same time, they discussed topics such as talent exchange, platform cooperation, incubation services, and scientific and technological innovation cooperation between Beijing and the All-British Student Union.
